Gone with the Wind

HBO just added the classic 1939 movie, Gone with the Wind, to its forbidden history and entertainment list. The announcement first reminded me of a passage in George Orwell’s famous book, 1984.
"Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.”
Victory At Sea – A Tribute To A Not Forgotten Hero
- By W.H. Lamb
What kind of courage does it take to climb into an aircraft during wartime, knowing that as you take your cramped battle station within, it may be the final time you do so? I can only imagine the thoughts that must race through the minds of our military warriors who find themselves in that precarious position, be it on land, on the sea, or in the air, as they prepare to put themselves in harm’s way to battle an enemy who is determined to kill them. Only God knows how many people generally throughout world history, and how many Americans specifically, have faced that life or death question as they resolutely determined to face the enemies of freedom, tamping down their fear as they pondered whether or not they’d ever return home.
Welcome to America's Cultural Revolution
- By David Harsanyi
Attention readers: Neil Patel is off this week. Please enjoy the following column by David Harsanyi.
We're in the dawn of a high-tech, bloodless Cultural Revolution, one that relies on intimidation, public shaming and economic ruin to dictate what words and ideas are permissible in the public square.
"Words are violence" has always been an illiberal notion meant to stifle speech and open discourse. Popularized by a generation of coddled and brittle college students, it now guides policy on editorial pages at newspapers such as the Philadelphia Inquirer, The New York Times and most major news outlets.
Insults to Black History
- By Walter Williams
Many whites are ashamed, saddened and feel guilty about our history of slavery, Jim Crow and gross racial discrimination. Many black people remain angry over the injustices of the past and what they see as injustices of the present. Both blacks and whites can benefit from a better appreciation of black history.

Remind Congress that They Write our Laws, not the Supreme Court!
- By Travis Weber
Please contact your U.S. representative and senators TODAY and remind them that Congress writes our laws, not the Supreme Court!
On June 15, in Bostock v. Clayton County, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that sex discrimination in the 1964 Civil Rights Act includes “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” discrimination. With this ruling, the Court overstepped its proper constitutional role and effectively rewrote a 55-year-old statute -- a job which should have been left to Congress. This decision has also opened up a Pandora’s box of religious liberty problems in our country for years to come.
The Silent Majority Can Be Silent No More
- By David Limbaugh
Lately it seems that we conservatives can't win even when we're winning. But the country is under siege, so we cannot indulge the luxury of being discouraged.
This year has been one body blow after another to the nation we love. First, there was the coronavirus, and we thought, "How can this get any worse?" Then came the economic shutdown and the incalculable pain and suffering it brought. Next were the riots, the radicals' unopposed seizure of a section of Seattle and the maniacal efforts throughout the country to defund the police. Now a series of rulings from the "conservative" Supreme Court are wreaking untold havoc on the Constitution and the rule of law.
Your Rights Are At Stake

SCOTUS Decision Comes on Heels of Trump Decision Protecting Conscience Rights
This past Friday, June 12th the Trump Administration finalized a rule on Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act. Section 1557 prevents covered health programs from discrimination based on current civil rights statutes, like that in Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972. Specifically, Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in some federally funded programs and was interpreted by the Obama Administration to include “termination of pregnancy and gender identity, which it defined as “one’s internal sense of gender, which may be male, female, neither, or a combination of male and female.”
Can We Coexist with Asia's Communists?
- By Pat Buchanan
Wednesday, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met for seven hours at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii with the chief architect of China's foreign policy, Yang Jiechi.
The two had much to talk about.
As The Washington Post reports, the "bitterly contentious relationship" between our two countries has "reached the lowest point in almost half a century." Not since Nixon went to China have relations been so bad.
“The Forgotten War”, Remembered
- By Lew Perry
At this time of year here in South Carolina and all across the nation, Korean War Veterans will remember the outbreak of the Korean War June 25th, 1950.
Because the Korean War came about on the heels of WWII, and because we were not directly attacked, ie: Pearl Harbor, many people, and our Government, could not accept the need to go to war in Korea. For that reason, and for the 70 years that have followed, it is still regarded as the “Forgotten War” denying our Korean War Veterans the honor and respect they have earned.

Supreme Court Rewrites Civil Rights Act
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
The U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling last Monday that makes the nation's high court look more like a uber-legislative body than a judicial one. The Court declared that the federal prohibition of employment discrimination based on sex in the 1964 Civil Rights Act also prohibits discrimination on the basis of "sexual orientation" and "gender identity." In redefining the term that describes biological sex, the Supreme Court took the question of protected categories out of the hands of the American people and once again created judicial legislation.
Cancel the White Men -- And What's Left?

"Can we all just get along?"
That was the plea of Rodney King after a Simi Valley jury failed to convict any of the four cops who beat him into submission after a 100-mile-an-hour chase on an LA freeway.
King's plea came after the 1992 LA riots, the worst since the New York City draft riots in 1863 when Lincoln had to send in federal troops.

SCOTUS Decision Will Harm Women and Girls
- By Eagle Forum
Last Monday morning, in a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in Bostock v. Clayton County that title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 extends to individuals identifying as gay or transgender. The majority position, written by Justice Neil Gorsuch stated:
“An individual’s homosexuality or transgender status is not relevant to employment decisions That’s because it is impossible to discriminate against a person for being homosexual or transgender without discriminating against that individual based on sex.”
Will Removing Confederate Symbols Promote Social Peace? Of Course Not.
- By Mike Scruggs
![Confederate Major General Patrick Cleburne, KIA November 30, 1864, Franklin, TN, Irish born Confederate Major General Patrick Cleburne, KIA November 30, 1864, Franklin, TN, Irish born](/images/Confederate-Major-General-Patrick-Cleburne_0867.jpg)
Will removing Confederate flags, monuments, and names promote social peace or racial healing? How long would a peace based on suppression of a people’s cherished heritage last? How long would a peace built upon suppressing the memory, valor, and virtue of the revered forebears of a great number of the Southern people last? What could possibly be a surer cause of immense strife, bitterness, and economic and political turmoil? Does anyone outside of a madhouse believe that peace and prosperity can be achieved by discarding the heritage of a numerous people to gain the political favor of another? It is more likely to shatter all hope of peace. Can a society set itself against tolerance and mutual respect and have peace? No fair-minded person can accept such corrupt reasoning.
Now What?
- By Walter Williams
No decent person can support George Floyd's mistreatment, or the mistreatment of anyone else, at the hands of police officers with the sworn duty to uphold the law. The Minneapolis authorities moved quickly, and Derek Chauvin was fired from the Minneapolis police department, placed under arrest and charged with second-degree murder and other charges. The three officers who were with him were also fired and charged two counts of aiding and abetting -- one for second-degree murder and one for second-degree manslaughter.
