The Problem in Portland Isn't the Law -- It's the Lawlessness
- By David Harsanyi
Attention readers: Neil Patel is off this week. Please enjoy the following column by David Harsanyi.
Despite the occasional looting, chaos, property damage, trespassing, rioting, graffiti, assaults, arson and general mayhem, the media consistently assure us that antifa "protesters" are "largely peaceful." And since the majority of buildings in Portland, Seattle and Denver haven't been looted yet, who am I to argue?
Trump Must Directly Appeal to African Americans
- By David Limbaugh
During the 2016 presidential campaign, Donald Trump directly appealed to African American voters for their vote, asking them, "What do you have to lose?"
Trump should have received more credit for this, as Republicans have often been criticized for not wooing African Americans from Democrats, who crucially depend on their overwhelming support yet take their votes for granted.
Trump's message was that blacks had entrusted their improvement exclusively to the Democratic Party, but it had failed to produce. He highlighted two critical areas in which Democrats had let them down: education and poverty.
Stress Test of a Straining Superpower
- By Pat Buchanan
How great a burden can even an unrivaled superpower carry before it buckles and breaks? We may be about to find out.
Rome was the superpower of its time, ruling for centuries almost the entirety of what was then called the civilized world.
Great Britain was a superpower of its day, but she bled, bankrupted and broke herself in the Thirty Years War of the West from 1914-1945.
Eagle Forum Agrees with Planned Parenthood
- By Eagle Forum
“Cancel Culture” Cancels One of its Own
Planned Parenthood of Greater New York announced Tuesday that they will remove Margaret Sanger’s name from their clinic. Their board’s chair, Karen Seltzer, stated:
“The removal of Margaret Sanger’s name from our building is both a necessary and overdue step to reckon with our legacy and acknowledge Planned Parenthood’s contributions to historical reproductive harm within communities of color.”
We couldn’t agree more. The pro-life movement has persistently brought attention to Sanger’s racist motives. She was not shy about her intentions of eradicating minority populations and people with disabilities. She aligned herself with eugenicists who were actively researching how to do just that.
What Is Happening to Our Democracy? Oh Wait, I Mean Our REPUBLIC!
- By John Bennett, Vice-President, Understanding The Threat
(Reprinted from UTT Newsletter, July 16, 2020)
With all the turmoil going on in the world today I worry greatly about the future of America, your future, my kid’s future, my grandkids’ future. How did we get to where we are today? Such a lawless nation? Where did the rule of law go? Why is our nation in such a moral decline? Why is our constitution being ignored and our rights being infringed upon? Is it my fault? Your fault? Your teacher’s fault? Society’s fault? Is it a failing form of government?

EASTON, Md. -- Children living in a "world of fear" in the Middle East are helping each other conquer their deepest anxieties -- by sharing their own uplifting faith with others live on satellite television and social media.
Entangled in wars, social unrest, COVID-19, poverty, and religious or ethnic persecution, the Middle East and North Africa can be a frightening place to live -- especially for children caught up in the turmoil.
Biden Courts '1 Million Muslim Voters', Wants American Children to Study Islam in Public Schools
- By Deborah Bunting - CBN News
Presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden told attendees at the Muslim Voters Summit this week that more should be taught about Islam in our public schools.
Biden included Islam as one of the "great confessional faiths" and said, "I wish we taught more in our schools about the Islamic faith. I wish we talked about all the great confessional faiths. It's one of the great confessional faiths."
We Win
- By Ray Simmons
I was out having lunch at a local restaurant where I saw a couple of policemen lunching with their wives. I was about finished my lunch and my wife was still working on her dessert. I got up and walked over until I was less than six feet away from the officer facing me. He looked up at me, our eyes met; I motioned to myself, to him and his friend and said, “We love you guys.” He gave me a big grin, a strong “thank you” and reached and shook my hand—a no-no these days. The other officer turned and offered his hand and I shook it.
The New Conservative Nightmare
- By Joseph M Bianchi
![Joseph-M-Bianchi Joseph-M-Bianchi](/images/headshot2-Joseph-M-Bianchi.jpg)
With the specter of out of control Covid-19 increasing fear and economic ruin, and with the Black Lives Matter Movement (BLM) gaining national prominence—in addition to protests and violence in our streets, America is certainly living in interesting times.
For many on the Left, there is a feeling that the upheaval has been a long time coming; racial and economic disparity, along with police brutality against people of color, could no longer be tolerated. Something had to give. And it has.
One Nation Under Anarcho-Tyranny
- By Michelle Malkin
The America you grew up in is not the America we live in now.
One nation under God? Ha.
Land of the free? Ha.
Domestic tranquility? Ha.
Equal protection under the law? Ha.
The right to bear arms? Ha.
Freedom of speech? Association? Peaceable assembly? Ha. Ha. Ha.
It's not "socialism" or "communism" under which we suffer. Our dangerously chaotic, selectively oppressive predicament is more accurately described as "anarcho-tyranny." The late conservative columnist Sam Francis first coined the term in 1992 to diagnose a condition of "both anarchy (the failure of the state to enforce the laws) and, at the same time, tyranny -- the enforcement of laws by the state for oppressive purposes."
Pelosi Purges Past
- By Eagle Forum
In the wake of racially charged protests, the country has seen an uptick of statue desecrations in multiple cities against figures who don’t pass today’s standard of “decency.” From Abraham Lincoln to Christopher Columbus, many historical figures have been targeted not only by protestors but by politicians as well.
And now this week, the House of Representatives is set to pass H.R. 7573, which removes various statues from the Halls of the United States Capitol that are affiliated with the Confederacy. The title of the bill is a description of its intent, To direct the Architect of the Capitol to replace the bust of Roger Brooke Taney in the Old Supreme Court Chamber of the United States Capitol with a bust of Thurgood Marshall to be obtained by the Joint Committee on the Library and to remove certain statues from areas of the United States Capitol which are accessible to the public, to remove all statues of individuals who voluntarily served the Confederate States of America from display in the United States Capitol, and for other purposes.
Left Comes for Religious Hospitals with Surgical Precision
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
The justices predicted a war -- and almost one month to the day of their Bostock ruling, they got one. The first shot was fired last Thursday, when the ACLU decided to sue Maryland's St. Joseph Medical Center for refusing to take out a woman's perfectly healthy uterus just because she wanted to live as a man. It goes against the hospital's religious beliefs, St. Joseph argued. But now, thanks to the Supreme Court, it might go against six justices' ridiculous definition of "sex" too.
Life Legal Files SCOTUS Brief Demolishing Roe's Viability Standard
- By Life Legal Defense Foundation
WASHINGTON -- Life Legal filed an important amicus brief today in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization in support of Mississippi's "Gestational Age Act," which prohibits abortion after 15 weeks. We filed the brief on behalf of Dr. Robin Pierucci, a neonatologist and bioethicist who is a nationally recognized expert in care for "micro-preemies," or very young premature babies born during the second trimester of pregnancy.
Our brief is an attack on the unworkable "viability" standard adopted by the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade and affirmed in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, which has cost the lives of millions of babies. These cases rely on a highly subjective determination of a baby's "capability of meaningful life outside the mother's womb."

Rising Diversity Is Joe Biden's Worry, Too
- By Pat Buchanan
Is her racial diversity America's greatest strength?
So we are told. Yet, even before America becomes a majority-minority nation, 25 years from now, recent changes in the composition of the country are going to impact both parties in 2020.
According to Brookings Institution demographer William Frey, between 2010 and 2020, while America's population grew by 20 million, our white population fell for the first time since the 1790 census.
House Sacrifices Military Security in Favor of Sex Diversity
- By Eagle Forum
This week the House is set to vote on the William M. (Mac) Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 (NDAA), bill number H.R. 6395.
The NDAA Reauthorization authorizes about $740.5 billion for the fiscal year 2021. The provisions in H.R. 6395 should focus on providing for military readiness, supporting our troops, and our security. Yet, these funds are being used for unsubstantial security threats, like climate change prevention. The legislation also prevents the President from withdrawing troops from Germany by requiring certain certifications and reports before he can do so. And, in an attempt to block the border wall from coming into fruition, the legislation sets a $100 million for domestic projects and $500 million for overseas projects spending cap on emergency use of military construction funding. According to an article in The Hill, “To date, Trump has taken $3.6 billion from military construction funding for the wall.”

“These Are The Times That Try Men’s Souls” (And Their Courage, Their Patience and Their Resolve)
- By W.H. Lamb
“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all His commands I will give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations of Earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God.”
Deuteronomy 28:1-2 NIV (Deuteronomy was George Washington’s favorite Book of the Bible).
“These are the times that try men’s souls. The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like Hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Heaven knows how to put a proper price upon its goods; and it would be strange indeed if so celestial an article as FREEDOM should not be highly rated….

- By Worldwide Marriage Encounter

Historical Ignorance and Confederate Generals
- By Walter Williams
The Confederacy has been the excuse for some of today's rioting, property destruction and grossly uninformed statements. Among the latter is the testimony before the House Armed Services Committee by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley in favor of renaming Confederate-named military bases. He said: "The Confederacy, the American Civil War, was fought, and it was an act of rebellion. It was an act of treason, at the time, against the Union, against the Stars and Stripes, against the U.S. Constitution."

- By Christian Defense Coalition
NEW YORK -- Human rights activists and faith leaders call for the NBA to remove training center from Xinjiang, China where over one million Uighur Muslims have been brutalized and put in concentration camps.
The activists will also call for NBA to close their other training centers in China and publicly condemn the horrific human rights and civil liberty abuses by the Chinese government who continue to brutalize their own people and trample freedom in Hong Kong.
House Set to Pass Bipartisan Bill that Creates Permanent Trust Fund for Federal Lands
- By Eagle Forum
A few weeks ago, we asked for your help in telling your Senator to vote Yes with Fixes on the Great American Outdoors Act. And, now the House is set to vote on this legislation.
For background, in 1964 Congress created the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) to protect our federal lands and waters. Through the enactment of S. 47 or The John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act in 2019, the LWCF received permanent reauthorization.
Religious Freedom Advocacy Group Seeking to Raise Awareness About Global Christian Persecution
- By Christian Newswire
For the Martyrs to hold a demonstration, "March for the Martyrs," and informational conference to raise awareness about Christian persecution in Long Beach, California
LONG BEACH, Calif. -- The number of Christians persecuted for their faith has risen 20% in just two years. Currently, there are over 260 million people across the globe who face high levels of persecution because of their faith in Christ. Shockingly, the growing crisis of Christian Persecution is widely ignored by the media and often overlooked within faith communities of the West.
Most Trump Supporters Can't Wait to Vote for Him
- By David Limbaugh
Commentators came out of the woodwork to ridicule President Donald Trump for allegedly turning his July 14 press conference into a campaign rally (and for being unpresidential). So what if he did?
They objected that he veered into other topics when he was supposed to be talking about China and Hong Kong. Horrors!
The press corps, of all people, has no standing to complain about topic drift at presidential press conferences when it routinely uses such events to ask questions unrelated to the announced topic.
Don't Fall for Cuomo's Gaslighting on Coronavirus
- By David Harsanyi
Attention readers: Neil Patel is off this week. Please enjoy the following column by David Harsanyi.
On March 25, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo made one of deadliest mistakes of the coronavirus crisis, signing an executive order forcing nursing homes in his state to accept patients who tested positive for coronavirus. Around 4,800 New Yorkers died from COVID-19 in those nursing homes from March to May -- approximately 25% of all fatalities in the state.
Like a Mob to the Flame
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
It looked like something out of a 2015 news report -- a picture from ISIS, maybe, torching its way through Mosul. But the charred pews and collapsed roof were not the work of Islamic terrorists, but America's own. Over the weekend, the rioters, the same ones who wanted us to believe their cause is justice, came for our churches -- using gasoline, lighters, gallons of paint, and vans to drive their message of destruction and chaos through the heart of America's faithful.
Trump Responds with Force Against Chinese Involvement in Hong Kong
- By Eagle Forum
This past fall, protestors in Hong Kong took to the streets against the communist Chinese regime based in Beijing. The people of Hong Kong were fighting a piece of legislation that would allow China to extradite fugitives to mainland China. Their fear is that this bill would be used as an avenue for the Chinese government to take political advocates, like those who are pro-democracy, out of Hong Kong. Eventually, these protests turned into pro-democracy marches, with supporters waving the American flag, a worldwide symbol of freedom.
Is America Up for a Naval War with China?
- By Pat Buchanan
Is the U.S., preoccupied with a pandemic and a depression that medical crisis created, prepared for a collision with China over Beijing's claims to the rocks, reefs and resources of the South China Sea?
For that is what Mike Pompeo appeared to threaten this week.
"The world will not allow Beijing to treat the South China Sea as its maritime empire," thundered the secretary of state.
