Free, Black and Twenty-one
- By Marilyn M. Singleton
I ran into a 20-something fellow wearing a T-shirt that said “I love being black.” I had a wave of fond nostalgia remembering how my mother began our outings with “I’m free, black, and 21 – let’s do it!”
What happened to that great attitude? We have allowed it to be hijacked by the likes of race baiters and charlatans. It remains an embarrassment that Al Sharpton was able to parlay a giant provable lie into hosting a TV show. It seems the media’s flavor of the day is anyone who is black, female or new to this country. Worse yet, white males are painted as evil for the sake of political gain with no qualms about the negative effect on social and race relations. (Beware: the white male-hating circle will ultimately engulf strong black men who support their families.)
If The President Wants Any Border Wall Funding, Here’s What He Should Do
- By Erick Erickson - The Resurgent
First, I remain opposed to the President declaring an emergency. I think the President should consider that the very same people now advising him to declare an emergency are the ones who encouraged him to rush into a shutdown without a strategic plan and then didn’t back him up.
New York and the Conscience of a Nation
- By Tony Perkins
For 40 years, America has had one of the most extreme abortion laws on the planet. Babies in the womb -- boys and girls, unwanted by their families, rejected as members of the human family, have been deprived of their human rights and legal protection until the moment of birth, thanks to the Supreme Court's Roe v. Wade ruling in 1973. But rarely has there been the collective outrage we now see against the New York legislature and its governor, Andrew Cuomo.
What has awakened the outrage? Certainly the terms of the law itself are sick and horrific. A medical license or a medical degree is no longer needed to conduct an invasive procedure on a woman to kill her baby at any time up until birth. The would be abortionist need only claim that killing the baby will further the mother's "health."

If the Army Stands With Maduro, What Is Plan B?
- By Pat Buchanan
"Pay the soldiers. The rest do not matter."
This was the deathbed counsel given to his sons by Roman Emperor Septimius Severus in A.D. 211.
Nicolas Maduro must today appreciate the emperor's insight.
For the political survival of this former bus driver and union boss hangs now upon whether Venezuela's armed forces choose to stand by him or to desert him and support National Assembly leader Juan Guaido.
South Carolina Policy Council Legislative Update
- By SC Policy Council
This marks the fourth legislative week of 2019, and several important bills are building momentum in the House and Senate.
On the floor, the Senate will take up a bill that increases the South Carolina Research Authority’s budget by doubling the cap on available tax credits for the “Industry Partnership Trust Fund” (from $6 million to $12 million). It would also prevent SCRA board members from receiving this credit, a conflict of interest that is currently legal. The House does not have have any bills scheduled at this time.

As Harry Kibler opened up the meeting, he shared his surprise on how many showed up at the first meeting of the renewed RINO Hunt where over 125 attended, many for the first time.
He first, expressed his opinion of bystanders vs. activists, comparing bystanders to those who only comment on Facebook and web pages or who just submits “like” clicks to pages. He said expressing your opinion only is not an activist. It takes more to be an activist!

“Show me the man, and I’ll show you the crime” --Lavrentiy Beria, Soviet Chief of Secret Police under Stalin
The Bolsheviks were the “majority” faction of the Russian Social Democratic Party, which was renamed the Communist Party after Vladimir Lenin seized power during the October Revolution of 1917. Their ruthless totalitarian style of government was perfected under Joseph Stalin from 1924 to 1953. Lavrentiy Beria was Stalin’s Chief of Secret Police from 1941 to 1953. Stalin died on March 5, 1953, and a power struggle for Soviet leadership quickly ensued. Nikita Khrushchev, a critic of Stalin’s purges, staged a coup d’etat in September and emerged as the unchallenged leader of the Communist Party and Council of Ministers.

Perseverance Is Good For US
- By W.H. Lamb
We all claim to admire people who persevere despite handicaps, hardships, family, health or financial difficulties, etc., until they reach their goal. Let’s define “Perseverance”. According to Webster’s dictionary, it is defined as: “continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failures, or oppositions.” That definition is pretty straightforward, and most of us can agree with it. However, there is much “blood, sweat, and tears” between the dictionary definition and the actual following through to the end goal of one’s perseverance. The key word of the definition is: ‘CONTINUED’, often for years!
Lessons From the Past
- By Thomas Sowell
Seventy-one years ago this month -- in January 1948 -- a black, 17-year-old high school dropout left home. The last grade he had completed was the 9th grade. He had no skills, little experience, and not a lot of maturity. Yet he was able to find jobs to support himself, to a far greater extent than someone similar can find jobs today.
I know because I was that black 17-year-old. And, decades later, I did research on economic conditions back then.
Demonizing White Men
- By Walter Williams
Rush Limbaugh's December 2018 Limbaugh Letter has an article titled "Demonizing White Men." It highlights -- with actual quotations from people in the media, academia and the political and entertainment arenas -- the attack on white men as a class. You can decide whether these statements are decent, moral or even sensible. Should we support their visions?

Transgenders in Military Ban Goes into Effect
- By Eagle Forum
After much waiting, the Supreme Court is allowing the President’s transgenders in the military ban to temporarily go into effect. Previously, four federal district judges from Washington, D.C., Seattle, WA, Baltimore, MD, and Riverside, CA tried to stop the ban by ruling in favor of LGBT groups. However, early this year, a Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C. ruled in favor of the ban. In a 5-4 decision, the Supreme Court ruled to uphold the Court of Appeals’ ruling, letting the ban go into effect.

President Trump Did, In Fact, Get Betrayed by Congressional Republicans
- By Erick Erickson - The Resurgent
The reality is that President Trump and the Republicans held the Congress for two years and did jack about a border wall. The reality is also that Republicans in Congress kept telling the President to wait. And on two occasions they got the President to move forward in ways that got him in trouble with his own base. First was the DACA deal in February of last year and second was the end of the year deal.
SC Monuments Legislation Introduced!
- By American Heritage Association
We are pleased to report that legislation has been introduced in South Carolina to further protect our monuments from mob-rule. Representative Dwight Loftis has introduced House Bill 3632 which requires any illegally toppled monument to be put back in place. If a local government fails to put the monument back up they can be sued by local heritage organizations. Additionally it establishes mandatory minimum sentencing for those that damage our monuments.
Abortions in Pa. Down to All-Time Low, Thanks to Real Alternatives
- By Christian Newswire
Media Advisory - There is encouraging news as far as abortion goes. The number of abortions performed in Pennsylvania during 2017 was the lowest number ever recorded -- just over 30,000. It's a decrease of 870 from the prior year and way down from the all-time recorded high of nearly 66,000 in 1980.
That news was reported just last month by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. It is definitely a case of the glass being half-full or half-empty. There is still the fact that while 30,000 marks a low point, it is still 30,000 too many. So there is still work to be done.
The New State Property Tax South Carolinians Won’t See Coming
- By SC Policy Council
In 1976, voters passed a constitutional amendment amending legislators’ ability to provide for state borrowing. The ballot question was general, vaguely worded and failed to spell out what was arguably the most important part of the amendment: the creation of a new, automatic and limitless state property tax that could kick in with no warning and without debate or vote by the legislature.
The amendment mandates that the tax be imposed if the state is unable to make a payment on the debt. Unknowingly, South Carolinians voted to guarantee state debt with their property.
FBI, DOJ Leaders On Notice: Resign or Do Your Job
- By Phyllis Schlafly Eagles
St. Louis, MO: This morning the country saw news that Roger Stone, long-time Republican strategist and campaign consultant to Donald Trump, had been indicted and arrested by Special Counsel Robert Mueller's witch hunt. This is the latest in a long string of political "hits" against top Trump campaign officials. What was different today, however, is that video from Stone's arrest looked more like the capture of a drug lord or known terrorist. In a ludicrous move, Stone's home was swarmed by dozens of FBI agents and vehicles in full SWAT gear.
Big Chunk of Gas-tax-hike Money Not Going to Major Road, Bridge Repairs
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
Last June, S.C. Department of Transportation commissioner Robert “Robby” Robbins questioned agency head Christy Hall whether the worst roads in the state were being fixed.
“I want a system-wide analysis of which roads are the worst, and I want money to go there first … and I don’t think we are doing that right now,” Robbins, then the commission’s vice-chairman and who was named chairman last week, said during the commission meeting.
