Clarifies Questions Regarding Ethics Problems of Lt. Governor
“You have my word of honor that I will follow the law,” said South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson in response to a question regarding the ethics charges against Lt. Gov. Ard. Wilson assured his audience at a RINO Hunt meeting in Greenville that, “I will not make a decision based on politics.”
Democrats and the liberal media have been goading the Attorney General to convene a grand jury to determine if Ard broke any criminal statutes. Ard, who has been accused by the State Ethics commission of allegedly misusing campaign funds, has agreed to accept fines levied by the Ethics Commission.
Free Summer Breakfast and Lunchs from Greenville County Schools

I saw an article in your paper recently concerning free summer breakfasts and lunchs from the Greenville county schools. I can hardly express my disgust with this concept, or list all the things wrong with it. First, and primary, is the fact that it is just wrong; there is no Constitutional basis for feeding people,though I would support it in emergencies; there is an obligation for parents to provide for their own children. Lunch at schools is one thing, as children are required by law to be there all day, though I can remember bagging sandwiches to school as a child. Breakfast is a different thing, and should be provided at home. But to offer these meals when children aren't even in school? How is that justified or explained?
Understanding President Obama

The actions of President Barack Obama frequently contradict his spoken words. In fact, his actions are so contrary to the U. S. Constitution and traditional American behavior, that some of our fellow citizens pass him off as being young and inexperienced, or even “dumb.” His life has been cloaked in secrecy, making it virtually impossible for anyone to assess his motives accurately without a basic understanding of the theories espoused by his Marxist and socialist mentors.
Greer Teacher Describes “Space Camp” Experience

Pat Wavle is a National Board Certified math teacher. She is married with 5 children, and has taught at Greer High School for 13 years.
She was one of 1100 teachers from around the world who applied for Space Camp. A total of 105 were chosen to attend. Selected teachers came from 47 states and 22 foreign countries.
Honeywell and NASA sponsor the program.
“It was a fantastic opportunity to practice a lot of math and science, to meet a lot of great teachers from other places, and to learn a lot about our space program,” Wavle said.

President Obama's Former Ambassador to China Receives Cordial Welcome
Jon Huntsman, GOP candidate for president and former U. S. Ambassador to China, spoke at a hastily planned rally at Mutt’s Barbecue in Greer, Monday night.
The former Utah Governor and Reagan Administration appointee was accompanied by his wife and two of their children.
Huntsman was well received by a mix of Republican activists and regular customers at Mutt’s BBQ. The building was packed and the parking lot was overflowing.
Huntsman was introduced by former South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster.

Barack Obama believes he was elected to the United States presidency with a mandate for change. But he does not seem to realize that this mandate was not intended for U.S. relations with Israel.
He recently spoke out again with dictation to Israel to give half of their precious little national land to occupying Arabs, so those supposedly poor, abused Arabs can have their own independent state. He dictated again that Israel should return to the pre-1967 Six Day War borders. And he had the audacity to add that they should do this within 30 days.

Greenville Tea Party and Ron Paul Reps Met Bachmann’s Bus at Clinton
“We can’t afford this Congress. We can’t afford this President. We can’t afford this tax code,” presidential candidate Michele Bachmann told a crowd of about 300 Wednesday on the parking lot of Hollywood 20 Cinemas on Woodruff Road.
Bachmann, who represents Minnesota’s sixth district, said: “It’s time to make Barack Obama a one-term president.” Before she spoke, she was endorsed by Bill Rhodes, founder of the Greenville Tea Party. “This is our candidate,” Rhodes said. “We are behind her 100 percent.”
Bachmann sandwiched the Greenville appearance between events in Lexington and Rock Hill. Rhodes and local Ron Paul spokesman Chris Lawton met Bachmann’s bus and boarded it at a rest stop near Clinton.

Mike Scruggs is a real estate broker living in Hendersonville, N. C. Previously he was an investment executive with a major Wall Street firm. He holds a BS from the University of Georgia and an MBA from Stanford University.
A former USAF intelligence officer and navigator, he is a decorated combat veteran of the Vietnam War. His military awards include The Distinguished Flying Cross, Purple Heart, and several Air Medals.

Celebrating Mutual Respect Between American Veterans and South Korean People
The Upstate Chapters of the Korean War Veterans Association sponsored a Friendship Luncheon in Greenville Saturday to celebrate the mutual respect that exists between the American Veterans of the Korean War and the people of the Republic of South Korea. This was the second time the annual event has been held.
Gerry Kunz, outgoing president of the association was master of ceremonies. Heung Soo Kim, Deputy Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Atlanta, was guest speaker.
Deputy Consul Kim thanked the American veterans for their sacrifices for the Korean people. The attitude of the Liberal Media tends to be that, “If we don’t report it, it is not news.” Sometimes network affiliates and local newspapers owned by conglomerates are forced to report important events, but due to self-imposed political correctness rules the stories do not go beyond the local area. This seems to be especially true where events have racial overtones.

Exodus 32:35 contains an interesting principle, one that all Americans should know and apply in their lives today: “And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.” Critics of the Bible would probably jump on that and say, “Wait a minute, who‘made the calf, the people or Aaron?" If they would think about it for a few seconds they could answer their own question, and not go off on some idiotic tangent. Moses had been up on Mount Sinai, receiving the commandments from God. The Children of Israel got impatient for his return. They broke off their earrings, donated them to Aaron, and asked him to make them a god. Without their participation Aaron could not have made the golden calf. God held them both equally responsible.
The Declaration of Independence

On July 4, 2011, we will celebrate the Declaration of Independence approved by the Second Continental Congress representing the thirteen united States of America on July 4, 1776.
The Declaration states in part that: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. – That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
Member of “Spartanburg Six” Faced Music in Greenville

Rep. Doug Brannon Substituted for Rep. Rita Allison Invited by RINO Hunt
State Representative Doug Brannon, who represents House District 38 in Northern Spartanburg County, is an attorney, however, he found himself a defendant before a roomful of RINO Hunt members acting like prosecutors at Denny’s in Greenville, Friday night.
Brannon is one of the “Spar-tanburg-Six,” a group of Spartanburg County Republican House members who joined with Democrats and voted to table and kill the school choice bill supported by the SC GOP Platform. The six Republican House members provided an ideal “textbook” example of what is wrong with the Republican Party and must be corrected if the party is to regain credibility with voters. In this instance, six Republicans from one county were able to destroy several years of work by South Carolina Republicans and provide a key victory for Obama Democrats with one vote.

As many of you probably know, Ken grew up in Greer, more specifically in the Apalache Community. In an interview several years ago he shared how his father gave him a guitar and how he learned to play some cords. He said that he sat on the porch at night playing and singing.

It was Wednesday at 4 pm. Three mothers and their teenage boys walked into the orthodontic offices of Doctors Fearing, Payne and De Mise. Well, what actually happened was Mrs. Homemacher, Mrs. Hopewell, and Mrs. Hidebound walked into the office. Their three boys followed ten paces behind as if they had no clue who had driven them there.

With graduations over and students out for summer break we may not be thinking much about school or education at this time. Most of us were glad when graduation finally came, and we were certainly relieved when classes were over for the summer.
Now that the academic year has ended, however, I have been thinking about a different school. It is a school from which there are no graduates and the curriculum is one of life-long learning. This is a school where no academic credit is given nor is a grade-point maintained. It is the School of Prayer.
The Arab Spring?

We have been wondering what "the Arab Spring" is really all about. Media commentators have elatedly described the many Arab street protests and the widespread uprisings against tyrannical Arab Moslem leaders as "the Arab Spring." They say that the common people are supposedly rebelling to obtain democracy, fighting for freedom and liberty such as we have in America. Are they right or wrong?
From our perspective, all we have seen so far is some limited successful efforts to remove tyrannical Arab Moslem national leaders from control, but no efforts to get at the real root of the problems. Yes, the people seem to want more freedom and less repression in their daily lives, but we don't see any great movement to overthrow their repressive Islamic laws.
Shattering the Myths That Have Distorted History

Dealing with the important matters of war and peace, I recall from my youth hearing wise men and women say: “Give the American people the facts and they will invariably make the right decisions.”
Entering and during World War II we were not always given facts. Facts tend to support the conclusion that the U. S. Government invited the attack on Pearl Harbor. Was the sacrifice at Pearl Harbor necessary to snap Americans out of their complacency and isolationism and help stop the Nazi takeover of Europe? A rational argument can be made that the attack was invited and the desired result was achieved. Facts are facts and conclusions are mostly opinion.

The Dove Brothers

This year at the Grand Ole Gospel Reunion a group which made their debut some 12 years ago will return with the original members for a special concert. It is none-other than the original Dove Brothers Quartet from Greenville, North Carolina. The following is from an article I wrote about the Dove Brothers several years ago when this group was together as you will see them at the Grand Ole Gospel Reunion August 11th through 13th. Now for a look at, in my opinion, a group which has successfully brought back The Statesmen and Blackwood Brothers style of singing which was so popular years ago.
Teaching Integrity

Integrity is a difficult concept for many people to understand. Some people claim it, even though they can’t define it. You can’t go down to the corner store and get it, but you can lose it at the corner store. You can’t get a degree in integrity, but you can lose integrity getting a degree. It is more than what you say. It is more than what you do. However, it is directly connected to what you say and do. Proverbs 10:9 tells us, “The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out.”
When I attended the US Air Force Academy we had an honor code, “We will not lie, cheat, or steal, or tolerate among us those who do.” This may not be a textbook definition of integrity, but it is a pretty good working definition. It embodies the two key principles of integrity. What you say and what you do are consistent and they are honorable.
Netanyahu for President?

We can't get over the exciting impression that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made on the United States Congress during his recent speech to a joint session of the House and Senate. The American legislators gave him 29 standing ovations and interrupted him with applause some 50 times. Commentators said that he got more applause than did U.S. President Barack Obama during his State of the Union speech earlier this year.
Nationally respected talk show host, Rush Limbaugh, went a step further. He said that Netanyahu ought to run for president of the United States. "I would vote for him," Limbaugh stressed.

When something provokes a change in what one believes, there follows in tow a change in lifestyle.
Recently, I have been preparing some messages for my congregation with regard to the biblical doctrine of sin and the introduction of depravity upon humanity. During my preparatory studies I could not help but notice how one's view of reality orders their understanding of life and how it is lived.
Let's Preserve the Historic Flour Mill on Hwy. 101 Near Cool Creek Rd.

Many of us in Greenville County have driven by and admired that old majestic flour mill on Hwy 101, near the Cool Creek Road intersection. I wonder who used to own it, and what was its name? When was it built? Was it functioning during the Civil War era, and maybe feeding troops? Citizens, this is a rare historical landmark, and should surely be preserved! It is rare to see an original iron water wheel still attached to the flour mill! That high water wheel is the biggest I've ever seen!
Obama’s Destruction of the Republic: Incompetence, Intentional?

A public debate that must take place in this country in order to objectively assess the Obama Administration over the past three years comes down to this: Are the consistent failures of the administration intentional or due to incompetence? To this observer the answer is clear.
President Obama knows little about how the private enterprise system works in a republic. He knows nothing about national defense and military strategy. He has demonstrated that he cares little about our Constitution or the rights of states and private citizens under the Constitution.
