The Transition is Complete
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Finally, the transition from print to digital newspaper is complete, and the downscale of office space is virtually complete. The new office address is: The Times Examiner, 1 Chick Springs Road, Suite 110-B, Greenville, S.C. 29609.
This has been a major adjustment after 25 years of virtually the same routine every week. We resisted the elimination of the printed paper as long as we could. The expense eventually became more than we could handle without going into debt or getting financial help from friends.

Is This Worse Than '68?
- By Pat Buchanan
Saturday, in Pittsburgh, a Sabbath celebration at the Tree of Life synagogue became the site of the largest mass murder of Jews in U.S. history. Eleven worshippers were killed by a racist gunman.
Friday, we learned the identity of the crazed criminal who mailed pipe bombs to a dozen leaders of the Democratic Party, including Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden.
From restaurants to Capitol corridors, this campaign season we have seen ugly face-offs between leftist radicals and Republican senators.

Dean Allen's Letter to President Trump Regarding Facebook
- By Dean Allen
Editor's Note: Facebook has banned Dean Allen from using the site eight times this year for posting conservative messages, essays or memes. Most recently, he received another 30 day ban just three days ago. The following is a letter he wrote to President Trump in regards to being banned from Facebook.
Dear President Trump,
I am a decorated, honorably discharged, combat veteran (served in Korea and two tours in Vietnam.)
I am writing to request the assistance of the executive branch of the US federal government because I am a victim of discrimination based on my race, gender, sexual orientation, religion and political philosophy.
Statement of facts: Facebook, a public corporation in the United States providing communications services to the public, with an effective monopoly, has denied me the right to continue to use the site.

Political Poison
- By Mike Scruggs
October and Other Election Surprises
The thirty days before an election are the season of political dirty tricks. It is frequently referred to as the “October surprise” and is generally launched by desperate candidates or campaign consultants with moral compasses aligned to power rather than ethical conduct and the public good. It is often a Halloween basket filled with misleading or outright false statements and statistics; character defamation; economic, social, and historical ignorance; and the usual litanies and virtue-signaling of victimhood politics Delivering this blizzard of falsehoods and distortions during the last weeks or even the last few days before an election will usually prevent opponents from responding before most of the damage is done.
Burning Down the Church
- By Ben Graydon
An arsonist set a fire that gutted the church where we attended when I was young. I was to learn in subsequent years that a) church fires are not that infrequent, and b) they can have an upside, in that they tend to burn into the souls of their members (those who are listening) some realities about the differences between the church (the institution) and the ecclesia (the actual bride of Christ).
In an article in the February/March 2018 issue of Presbyterians Today, “Idolizing our worship spaces,” pastor Richard Hong writes about a phenomena that occurred after a fire in his church and their subsequent move into other meeting places: “In all of the time that we have not been in our traditional sanctuary, we have been growing.”
The Flight of the “Moonbats”
- By W.H. Lamb
We’ve all seen them in person or on video: Little flying mammals who come out around dusk in search of insects or fruit to eat. A few of them seek out blood to drink, and are called “vampire” bats. Most people are afraid of bats (which don’t get in your hair), but except for the remote possibility of being bitten by a rabid bat, they are harmless to humans and generally are beneficial to mankind. All except one. The moonbat is truly dangerous to human safety and happiness because it is wingless, cunning, and resorts to perfidy, subterfuge, mendacity, lies, and violence to survive and attack its opponents.

Democratic-Controlled House
- By Walter Williams
Democrats are hoping the coming election will give them a majority in the House of Representatives. Republicans and much of our nation dread that prospect. My question is: What would a House majority mean for the Democrats? Let's look at it.
To control the House of Representatives, Democrats must win at least 218 seats, which many predict as being likely. To control the Senate, Democrats must win enough seats to get to 51, which many predict is unlikely. Let's say the Democrats do take the House. If they were to pass a measure that Republicans in both houses didn't like and President Donald Trump didn't like, either, he could use his veto pen. To override Trump's veto, Democrats would need to meet the U.S. Constitution's requirement that they muster a two-thirds vote in the House of Representatives (290 votes) and a two-thirds vote in the Senate (67 votes). Neither would be likely.

The 24/7 Fake News Cycle
- By John Utz - Greenville SC
Just a simple review of the last month m/l of the so-called major news items well illustrate just how fraudulent the 24/7 news cycle is 'fake news.'
First, the Brett Kavanaugh hearings by the Judiciary Committee produced such ugly, unproveable, old, morality charges, but essentially avoided most any discussion/questions re: policy! (Kavanaugh is NOT the 'originalist' we true conservatives demanded).

RIDGE SPRING — Kevin Yon has built his life around family and farming, and on Oct. 16, he celebrated landmark moments on both fronts.
On the same day Yon’s first grandchild came home from the hospital to the family farm in Ridge Spring, he was named the overall winner of the Swisher Sweets/Sunbelt Expo Southeastern Farmer of the Year award for 2018.
“It was very special,” said Yon, a first-generation angus breeder. “And I got to be there for the birth prior to going to the banquet, so that was good, too.”
Everyone Is Smart, Except Trump
- By Rabbi Dov Fischer
It really is quite simple. Everyone is smart except Donald J. Trump. That’s why they all are billionaires and all got elected President. Only Trump does not know what he is doing. Only Trump does not know how to negotiate with Vladimir Putin. Anderson Cooper knows how to stand up to Putin. The whole crowd at MSNBC does. All the journalists do.
They could not stand up to Matt Lauer at NBC. They could not stand up to Charlie Rose at CBS. They could not stand up to Mark Halperin at NBC Nor up to Leon Wieseltier at the New Republic, nor Jann Wenner at Rolling Stone, nor Michael Oreskes at NPR, at the New York Times, or at the Associated Press. But — oh, wow! — can they ever stand up to Putin! Only Trump is incapable of negotiating with the Russian tyrant.

Students in Linda Kemp's Washington Center class enjoy going out into the community. The students visit various places, such as grocery stores, the mall, museums, the park and restaurants. The class recently visited downtown Greenville and ate lunch at Bertolo's. The students had the opportunity to practice locating safety signs. This is an important skill for students to learn in order to keep them safe.
9 Things to Expect If Dems Win the House
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
In 8 days, Americans could be waking up to a very different country. While no one's sure what November 6th holds, we do know one thing: the two parties vying for Congress couldn't have more contrasting views. After two years of slashing taxes, beefing up the military, rolling back radicalism, and putting America first, voters know what to expect from Republicans. But what would 2019 look like with "Speaker" back in front of Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) name? "Collateral damage," she says. And a lot of it.

That list contains four of the highest-ranking officials of Barack Obama's administration: the president himself, his vice president, his secretary of state and his attorney general.
