We've had New York Magazine and New Republic, both bastions of mainstream leftist thought, assail President George H. W. Bush's record, character, and courage. But leave it to Slate, already known for its idiotic "Slate takes," to take it to a new level. Their writer, Ruth Graham, decided to attack President Bush's service dog, Sully, and those who are fawning over the dog.
Google Maps out Plan to Drive away Right
- By Tony Perkins
Google doesn't want to search the web's content -- it wants to control it. That's not news to conservatives, who've been the company's favorite target of political bias since before President Trump. We were told it was all in our imaginations, that Google would never manipulate its programs to promote one political view over another. Well, that'll be a lot harder for the company to say with a straight face now that its emails are public.

Secrecy Surrounds Incentives Info for Amazon HQ2 search, Other S.C. Projects
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
The S.C. Department of Commerce says it didn’t formally offer any taxpayer-backed incentives to lure Amazon’s second national headquarters to the Palmetto State, but instead provided general incentives information to counties if any of them wanted to compete for the project.
Commerce spokeswoman Adrienne Fairwell told The Nerve on Tuesday she didn’t know if any counties directly pitched Seattle-based Amazon for its second headquarters. And she declined to release the “general summary of state and local incentives” provided by Commerce to counties for the project, contending the record is exempt under the S.C. Freedom of Information Act.
Greenville County Schools Is Now Able To Text Parents For Emergency Messages
- By Greenville County Schools
As the season for winter weather approaches and due to changes in telecommunications laws Greenville County Schools (GCS) is now able to text emergency messages to parents through the school messenger system if the listed home phone number is text capable. We have heard from parents that they prefer direct communication instead of social media or waiting for media announcements/scrolls. GCS does not send phone messages to families late at night or early in the morning, so a last-minute closing decision, especially one made early in the morning is sometimes missed. Texting parents provides a less intrusive way to send emergency messages during these hours.

History's Hope
- By W.H. Lamb
Those of you who have read my columns in the now “extinct” print copy version of The Times Examiner know how much I love classical music. However, I also enjoy other genres of music, particularly the “Big Band” music of the 1930’s and 1940’s, Dixie Land jazz, the music of George Gershwin, the music of Sigmund Romberg and Rogers and Hammerstein from their great Broadway musicals over many years; and I adore the music of George M. Cohan, that “Yankee Doodle Dandy” who wrote hundreds of great songs for his musicals over the decades that stretched over the first half of the 20th century. And of course I love the music of the Christian Church, which is a musical genre all its own. All of these glorious melodies were written during “the good old days” when music was “musical”. Too bad that it isn’t so in our day and age.
Miseducated or Stupid?

Lenin was the first premier of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. Half of millennials have never heard of Communist Mao Zedong, who ruled China from 1949 to 1959 and was responsible for the deaths of 45 million Chinese people.

A Home Education Fable
- By Ray Sheen
Fables tell us a story with a deeper meaning. Here is a home education fable.
Once upon a time there was a great kingdom. In this kingdom nearly everyone sought the will of God to do what was right. One of the principles followed by parents was to provide for the education and training of their children. In fact, they had a saying that when a parent trained up their children in the ways of the Lord, when the child was older, they would not depart from those ways.
