An Unfair Paycheck Act
- By Eagle Forum
House Democrats are pushing forward yet another oppressive measure disguised under the label of “equality”. The Paycheck Fairness Act (H.R. 7) is messaged as a bill that outlaws sex-based wage discrimination. The Left makes this sound like a good effort, but in reality, unequal pay on the basis of sex is illegal now.
Title VIISex discrimination in the workplace is already prohibited by law through Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and the Equal Pay Act of 1963. These measures require that women and men are paid equally for equal work. H.R. 7 does not give women any more rights or access to money than they already have. In fact, it may cause a decrease in their paychecks.

The White House Budget
- By Eagle Forum
The President’s $4.7 trillion budget was released early this week. While Congress has usually ignored past White House budgets, and Democrats have already labeled it a “non-starter”, it gives us an indication as to what the President plans to focus on in the upcoming year.
In a nutshell, the President proposes to increase military spending while cutting $2.7 trillion of non-defense spending over ten years. He also leaves the spending caps in place as implemented by the Budget Control Act. However, Senate Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) are already working on a deal to undermine that effort. They are currently working on a two-year increase to the budget caps which would continue to drive the United States into further debt.

S.C.’s Massive Debt Load Partly Based on Misleading State Finance Report
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
When it comes to debt, the state of South Carolina is swimming in billions of it.
Yet an important report on the state’s finances, issued by Comptroller General Richard Eckstrom – the state’s chief accountant – and considered a key document by credit rating agencies in evaluating state debt, according to an expert, paints a misleading picture of South Carolina’s government structure and authority over state agencies, a review by The Nerve found.
