INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA

Big news—tomorrow, after the SC House of Representatives adjourns, a House Education and Public Works Subcommittee will hold a hearing on SCFC member Josiah Magnuson’s DEI bill.

The bill’s number is H.4290. If passed, it will drastically reduce the negative and divisive impact of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in our colleges and universities.

DEI (also known as Discrimination, Exclusion, and Indoctrination) is the practice of Marxist critical theory. It is an anti-American ideology that rejects individual responsibility, accomplishment, and merit in favor of socialism and class warfare based on race, gender, sexual orientation, and religion. It also promotes revisionist history and Left-wing activism intent on upending alleged “systemic oppression.”

Taxpayer money should never be used to undermine our values, silence speech, and indoctrinate our youth.

Recently, the world saw the ugly effects of these Leftist programs. Shockingly, after the horrific, genocidal attacks by Hamas against the Jewish people, college students across the US protested against Israel and FOR Palestine. Even the Left wing media had to admit DEI had created a monster and gone too far. If we want to preserve liberty for the next generation, we must stop the indoctrination.

Last year during the state budget deliberations in the House, the Freedom Caucus offered a series of amendments to cut all $8 million of DEI funding at state-funded colleges and universities. Unfortunately, the majority voted down these common-sense conservative amendments (despite the fact that Iowa, Texas, Wisconsin and other states had already defunded DEI).

However, during this floor fight House Leadership agreed to move a DEI bill this session. Tomorrow’s hearing is the first step to following through on that promise. Education and Public Works Chairlady Shannon Erickson (Beaufort) has worked with us to get this hearing set. Now we need your help!
