“As chairman of the South Carolina Republican Party, I am pleased to welcome Lancaster County Clerk of Court, Jeff Hammond, to the Republican Party. Our party is one built on inclusiveness, family values and conservative principles- all of which Jeff is well known for. We look forward to welcoming more conservative Democrats into our party as they come to fully understand just how extreme their party has become.”

Historians are in dispute as to whether Wilson actually said it.
USDA Announces Support for Farmers Impacted by Unjustified Retaliation and Trade Disruption
- By USDA
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will take several actions to assist farmers in response to trade damage from unjustified retaliation and trade disruption. President Trump directed Secretary Perdue to craft a relief strategy to support American agricultural producers while the Administration continues to work on free, fair, and reciprocal trade deals to open more markets in the long run to help American farmers compete globally. Specifically, the President has authorized USDA to provide up to $16 billion in programs, which is in line with the estimated impacts of unjustified retaliatory tariffs on U.S. agricultural goods and other trade disruptions. These programs will assist agricultural producers while President Trump works to address long-standing market access barriers.

Gas-tax-hike Road Contractors Getting Paid at Same Time for Other SC Projects
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
Too soon. Too cold. Too rainy. Too few workers.
Since the state law went into effect on July 1, 2017, hiking the gas tax 12 cents per gallon over six years and increasing other vehicle taxes and fees, state transportation officials and others have offered various reasons why few of South Carolina’s bad roads and bridges have been fixed.
Devices. Gotta love ‘em.
- By Ben Graydon
I haven’t been away … but an old trusty device checked out on me, having been replaced now by some new things that I’m still just learning how to use. Following, therefore, are some assorted thoughts that I’ve recorded, mostly while driving, since I last checked in on this page:

To Impeach or Not to Impeach
- By Judge Andrew Napolitano
"If the president does it, that means it is not illegal." -- Richard M. Nixon (1913-1994)
The revelation last weekend by Michigan Republican Congressman Justin Amash that he believes the Mueller Report accuses President Donald Trump of impeachable offenses has ignited firestorms in both major political parties on Capitol Hill. Amash's argument is simple and essentially unassailable, though his fellow congressional Republicans don't want to hear it and Democrats don't know what to do with it.

Whenever a young person shows a personal interest in the Korean War, we do everything we can to encourage them. When 11-year-old Miss Ashley Bush was shown the box of memorabilia with medals and ribbons of her late Grandfather, Olin Bush, a Korean War Veteran, she naturally had a lot of questions about the Korean War and the awards.
DUH: HUD Housing Should Put Americans First
- By Michelle Malkin
We no longer live in a constitutional republic. We live in an idiocracy.
Only in modern-day America, under the Democratic-controlled U.S. House of Representatives, is the basic proposition that federally subsidized public housing should benefit American citizens and legal residents slammed as "despicable" and "damaging."
The Lessor of Two Evils
- By John H. Utz
Just as I begin this commentary, Sen. Sanders is 'performing' his Townhall Q&A on FoxNews. As he presents his so-called democratic-socialist programs and policies, I wait in vain for the question, "How in all honesty can you take an oath to 'uphold and defend' the Constitution of the United States, and yet believe and support such socialistic programs?" Well, he can't, and truthfully there are but a handful of House/Senators who honestly are upholding the Constitution.

Has the Day of the Nationalists Come?
- By Pat Buchanan
A week from today, Europeans may be able to gauge how high the tide of populism and nationalism has risen within their countries and on their continent.
For all the returns will be in from three days of elections in the 28 nations represented in the European Parliament.
Expectation: Nationalists and populists will turn in their strongest performance since the EU was established, and their parliamentary group -- Europe of Nations and Freedom -- could sweep a fourth of the seats in Strasbourg.

Immigration: It's in Our DNA
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
To some people, it's just a Q-tip. But to the kids smuggled over the southern border, it could be the ticket out of a life of human trafficking. Thanks to Homeland Security's new pilot DNA program, one cheek swab is all it takes to find out which adults are gaming the system with children who aren't theirs. And this month, immigration officials have proven one thing: family separation isn't bad -- if they were never family to begin with!
