"Free Speech" on College Campuses
- By Tabitha Walter, Eagle Forum
Recently, Tabitha Walter, Eagle Forum’s Executive Director of the Washington, D.C. office gave a commencement speech to graduates at the Leadership Institute. She addressed the issue of free speech on college campuses. Here is an excerpt from her speech:
"Emotions are not equal to facts. Today’s culture tends to celebrate emotions. When we watch a show, listen to a story, or look at a work of art, we want to feel something. When we go through tragedy or celebrate life, emotions are just natural. God created us to have emotions. There are plenty of scriptures that even explain the emotions of God. However, when it comes to facts, emotions can skew your view.
The Democrats' Latest Ploy to Obstruct Kavanaugh's Confirmation
- By David Limbaugh
Democrats figure that if they can't yet get enough impeachment traction from the Michael Cohen and Paul Manafort cases, they'll at least be able to delay Judge Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation to the Supreme Court.
Apart from whether the cases of his personal lawyer and his campaign chairman expose President Trump to legal jeopardy, which I strongly doubt, Democrats have dialed up their propaganda machine to 12 -- the default 11 setting not quite satisfying their impeachment bloodlust.
Back in Business
- By Ben Graydon
It has all the components of a business: cash flow (or a negative downside from lack thereof), a CEO, a board of directors, employees, customers, products and services, advertising, special offers, a physical plant, overhead expenses, recognition by government and other businesses, interaction with suppliers and regulatory agencies, etc. It also has access to the greatest manual on business ever written … which manual, and dissemination of business success instruction therefrom, is one of its primary purposes for existence as a business. It is highly intriguing, therefore, that this business entity is so practically averse to disseminating that information regularly.
Do Democrats Want an Impeachment Fight?
- By Pat Buchanan
"If anyone is looking for a good lawyer," said President Donald Trump ruefully, "I would strongly suggest that you don't retain the services of Michael Cohen." Michael Cohen is no Roy Cohn.
Tuesday, Trump's ex-lawyer, staring at five years in prison, pled guilty to a campaign violation that may not even be a crime.
Cohen had fronted the cash, $130,000, to pay porn star Stormy Daniels for keeping quiet about a decade-old tryst with Trump. He had also brokered a deal whereby the National Enquirer bought the rights to a story about a Trump affair with a Playboy model, to kill it.
Foundation for Moral Law Urges Supreme Court to Protect Religious Liberty from Transgender Activism
- By Christian Newswire
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Foundation for Moral Law ("the Foundation") filed an amicus brief in the United States Supreme Court today urging it to protect religious liberty from transgender activism. In this case, R.G. & G.R. Harris Funeral Homes, Inc. v. EEOC, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued a funeral home, owned by Christians, that refused to allow a male funeral director to dress as a female. The United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit held that Title VII's prohibition of sex discrimination applies to transgender individuals and that the funeral home owners' religious objections did not protect them from liability.
Court Gives Dayton Abortion Facility 30 Days to Close
- By Christian Newswire
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Notorious abortionist Martin Haskell's Dayton, OH area abortion facility has been ordered to close. For years, Created Equal's ProjectWeakLink has partnered with local activists to seek closure of the doors of this facility and others run by Haskell. In 2016, the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) ordered Haskell to close the Dayton facility. However, Haskell entered litigation, during which Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Mary Wiseman ruled he could stay open. That lawsuit, however, has come to an end. Judge Wiseman has ruled in favor of ODH's previous decision and has given Haskell 30 days to close or appeal.
Foundation Condemns Inhumanity of Eleventh Circuit Decision Striking Down Alabama Ban on Intact D&E Abortions
- By Christian Newswire
MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The Foundation for Moral Law ("the Foundation"), a non-profit legal organization based in Montgomery, Alabama, devoted to the defense of religious liberty and promoting a strict interpretation of the Constitution as intended by its Framers, condemned the decision of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit today in West Alabama Women's Center v. Miller. The appeal came to the Eleventh Circuit after federal district judge Myron Thompson had declared unconstitutional an Alabama law banning intact D&E abortions. The Eleventh Circuit described this procedure as using "instruments to grasp a portion (such as a foot or hand) of a developed and living fetus" and "tearing the grasped portion away from the body." Consequently, the baby "bleeds to death as it is torn from limb to limb."
Congress Should Strengthen Work Requirements for Welfare Beneficiaries
- By Eagle Forum
Republicans, including President Trump, have long called for strong welfare reform, including work requirements. As the House and Senate work through the conference negotiations on the 2018 Farm Bill, we urge conferees to maintain a policy of conditioning benefits under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), otherwise known as food stamps, to limited work requirements for able-bodied adults without dependents (ABAWDs).
According to the Heritage Foundation, the ABAWD caseload for SNAP benefits has more than doubled over the past decade, rising from 1.9 million in 2008 to 4.2 million today. Spending on the program has also doubled in the last decade to approximately $73 billion annually.
Let's Join Together to Stop Out-of-Control Prosecutors
- By Michelle Malkin
At this unique moment in American history, liberals and conservatives have something in common: an abhorrence of government prosecutors run amok.
Republicans are livid at the federal fishing expedition known as the Mueller investigation. Bit players have been dragooned into an endlessly politicized probe. The media has taken sides; nonstop leaks have tainted the process. And the lead witch-hunter wields enormous and unchecked power to trump up (pun intended) charges against marginal campaign figures that have nothing to do with alleged Russian collusion.
Operation Rescue Introduces Abortion911.com to Prove Abortion Isn't Safe
- By Christian Newswire
WICHITA, Kan.-- Operation Rescue has launched a new web site, Abortion911.org, that documents medical emergencies at abortion facilities for the purpose of helping the public understand that abortions are not as safe as the abortionists say they are.
"Help us prove that abortion is not safe. We know it kills babies and hurts women, but the public needs to see documented reports to overcome the propaganda of the left that says abortion is a 'human right,' instead of the human rights abuse that it really is," said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.
Kaepernick, the NFL, and 'Social Justice'
- By John H. Utz - Greenville, SC
Most liberals and assorted ESPN-types won't let this go, and accordingly, we continue to hear about player rights to protest the flag, the national anthem, patriotism, etc. What I wish to comment upon are the rarely discussed 'social justice' issues the players are presumably upset about. Remember, Kaepernick is the player with the "cops are pigs" socks, the guy who thinks Cuba's socialism and health care are what we should have. And, accordingly, he is "not going to show pride for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color."

Wade Hampton’s Spy Network
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
I have studied the life of Wade Hampton III for much of the past two decades. In my view, in many respects, Wade Hampton III was one of the greatest citizens ever produced by the Palmetto State. Until recently, I had never heard of his “Iron Scouts.”
A good friend invited me to hear a presentation by the author of a book titled “Wade Hampton’s Iron Scouts.” at the Poinsett Club.
Michael Thomas is a native South Carolinian, Citadel Graduate and historian, who has spent a great deal of time researching military historic records and writing this very interesting original historical story.
Stop the Deep State Plan for a UN World Government!
- By Larry Greenley - The New American
[There is a plan] to induce the gradual surrender of American sovereignty, piece by piece and step by step, to various international organizations — of which the United Nations is the outstanding but far from the only example ... Until one day we shall gradually realize that we are already just a part of a worldwide government.
— Robert Welch, December 9, 1958
Robert Welch nailed it in 1958! He was nearing the end of his marathon two-day presentation at the founding meeting of The John Birch Society (of which THE NEW AMERlCAN is a wholly owned subsidiary) in Indianapolis when he issued the above stem warning about the danger to freedom posed by the United Nations. He correctly identified the existence of a plan by the globalist establishment, often described in America today as the “Deep State,” to gradually surrender our sovereignty to the United Nations until we would one day realize that we were already just a part of a UN world government.
Will Sweden Survive Its Immigration Folly?
- By Mike Scruggs
Swedish Voters Will Decide on September 9
On the evening of August 13 and continuing into the early morning of August 14, as many of 150 automobiles were set ablaze by Muslim immigrant youth gangs in several Swedish metropolitan areas. Most were concentrated around Gothenburg, Sweden’s second largest city on its west coast, but some auto burnings were reported further south in Helsingborg and Malmö and further north and inland in Trollhättan. In the early morning, some auto burnings were reported around Stockholm and Uppsala on the east coast. Rational analysis would assign a high probability that most of this arson was orchestrated.
Controlling the Chaos
- By Heather Sheen
Fall is a wonderful time of the year! The air is crisp, homeschooling is begun again, and anything seems doable and possible! That is, until the second day of school when you can’t find your lesson book, yesterday’s dishes are still mocking you on the counter and you wonder where all that laundry came from.
Yikes! Seems like the house ought to have sense enough to stay clean while you’re doing studies with your children.

Bad Men, Good Presidents
- By Walter Williams
With the continuing hysteria about Donald Trump's presidency, a few questions come to mind. The first: Can a bad man become a good president? The second: Does one's being a good man guarantee he'll be a good president? Third: Does having a good president require a good man? Is there any evidence of Lord Acton's argument that "great men are almost always bad men"?
I think former President Jimmy Carter was a good man who became a weak and bad president, both in domestic matters and in foreign affairs. President Bill Clinton was a bad man who became a reasonably good president in domestic and foreign matters. But then there was that impeachment issue that greatly tarnished his presidency.
Stephen Miller is our Rock of Gibraltar
- By John & Andy Schlafly
When the Left resorts to digging up someone’s uncle to smear someone, then you know they are getting desperate. Yet that is the pathetic length to which the Trump-haters are going, to try to stop the most effective adviser in the White House.
Stephen Miller has been the guiding light on President Trump’s agenda to make America safe again after decades of illegal immigration and open borders. He is extraordinary in how he both writes Trump’s speeches on many topics, while also giving him substantive advice on the most important issues.

In Spies Battle, Trump Holds the High Ground
- By Pat Buchanan
In backing John Brennan's right to keep his top-secret security clearance, despite his having charged the president with treason, the U.S. intel community has chosen to fight on indefensible terrain.
Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper seemed to recognize that Sunday when he conceded that ex-CIA Director Brennan had the subtlety of "a freight train" and his rhetoric had become "an issue in and of itself."
