Standing Springs Baptist Church Turning 200 Years Old
- By Press Release
On October 18th of this year Standing Springs Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC will be 200 years old. Standing Springs was started as an “arm” of Fork Shoals Baptist Church. It was organized on September 18, 1818 and the first service was held on October 18, 1818.
There were 10 charter members. Arguless, Elizabeth and Rachel Henderson, William Mayhall, Rhonda Moore, Thomas, Delila and James Richardson and Christopher and Hannah Robbins.
The church met in the home of Mr. James Cox for over a year. He gave the church three acres of land and the first building was erected in 1819. In 1837 a new building was constructed further from the road. This building has been remodeled many times over the years but the footings and beams are still in use today. The church facilities are in the same location but the acreage has grown to over 42 acres with several buildings.
Do Democrats Trust Midterm Polling?
- By David Limbaugh
If midterm election polls increasingly show that Democrats are poised to regain control of the House, then why are liberals in panic mode? What do they know that we don't -- or that they don't want us to?
The highly touted opinion poll analyst, FiveThirtyEight, released an election update video reporting that Democrats have an 82 percent chance of winning a majority of the House in November. The narrator breathlessly reveals that this is the first time their forecast has given the Democrats more than an 80 percent of winning the House since the launch of the model.
Yet an MSNBC panel was apoplectic over President Donald Trump's approval rating, which remained constant despite an avalanche of negative news stories concerning legal developments on Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen. Some liberals were sure those would puncture Trump's approval rating.
Reasoning About Race
- By Walter Williams
So much of our reasoning about race is both emotional and faulty. In ordinary, as well as professional, conversation, we use terms such as discrimination, prejudice, racial preferences and racism interchangeably, as if they referred to the same behavior. We can avoid many pitfalls of misguided thinking about race by establishing operational definitions so as to not confuse one behavior with another.
Discrimination can be operationally defined as an act of choice. Our entire lives are spent choosing to do or not to do thousands of activities. Choosing requires non-choosing. When you chose to read this column, you discriminated against other possible uses of your time. When you chose a spouse, you discriminated against other people. When I chose Mrs. Williams, I systematically discriminated against other women. Much of it was racial. Namely, I discriminated against white women, Asian women, fat women and women with criminal backgrounds. In a word, I didn't offer every woman an equal opportunity, and they didn't offer me an equal opportunity.
The Unpardonable Heresy of Tucker Carlson
- By Pat Buchanan
Our diversity is our greatest strength.
After playing clips of Democratic politicians reciting that truth of modern liberalism, Tucker Carlson asked, "How, precisely, is diversity our strength? Since you've made this our new national motto, please be specific."
Reaction to Carlson's question, with some declaring him a racist for having raised it, suggests that what we are dealing with here is not a demonstrable truth but a creed not subject to debate.

Medicare for All Means Freedom for None
- By Tabitha Walter - Eagle Forum
Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) introduced his Medicare for All Act (S. 1804) last year, but Democrat campaigns have recently ramped up support for it. This single-payer healthcare system idea is hitting a note with the public. A Reuters-Ipsos survey found that 70% of Americans support a Medicare for all policy. Of this percentage, 85% were Democrats while 52% were Republicans. These numbers are extremely troubling as we see a movement toward socialism.

Obama’s Tired Rhetoric Is a Flashback to Globalism
- By John & Andy Schlafly
Barack Obama’s return to the campaign trail is a violation of tradition and common sense. His tired rhetoric on globalism is a powerful reminder of how fortunate we are without him and the Clintons in power.
“Global governance” was the pejorative title of a video produced by Phyllis Schlafly in the ’90s that successfully converted the concept into an object of scorn. Yet here is Obama recycling Bill Clinton’s discredited push for world government at a time which most nations are rejecting it.

FEMA and Partners Warn of Potentially Catastrophic Impacts from Tropical Systems
- By FEMA News Desk
WASHINGTON – Forecasters with the National Hurricane Center predict a life-threatening storm surge and flash flooding could occur along portions of North and South Carolina with Hurricane Florence’s landfall.
Several mandatory and voluntary evacuation orders were ordered Monday and Tuesday along the east coast.
“If you are told to evacuate and do not do so, you need to realize you are putting your life in danger,” said FEMA Administrator Brock Long. “This storm is not to be taken lightly. The entire states of North and South Carolina could be heavily impacted by this storm. People do not live to tell the tale of surviving storm surge. It’s the most deadly part of the hurricane that comes in and it causes the most destruction.”

Many S.C. Counties Left Out of Gas-tax-hike Spending by State
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
In the first year of a controversial law hiking the state’s gasoline tax and other fees, the S.C. Department of Transportation spent no proceeds in 20 of South Carolina’s 46 counties, newly released records show.
Overall, only about $7 million, or 2.2 percent, of $312.6 million in total revenues collected from July 1, 2017, through June 30 was spent on “external” projects, according to agency records.
The most-recent online records show that 20 counties, including larger counties such as Beaufort, Lexington and Spartanburg, had no expenditures over the one-year period.
Culture Wars
- By Ben Graydon
It’s about culture.
Guys, wear your hair “too” long, and you’re a rebel. That goes back to the 60s and 70s. How long is “too long” depends: it’s relative. And if someone says, “Well, Jesus had long hair!” that guy just doesn’t get it. (See, if He did, it was OK back then; it wasn’t culturally relevant. [But, no, actually, others would say, Jesus’ hair was always short enough to pass hair check - a very modern military look - while everyone else’s around him was longer, at least over the ear.] My point. Culture.)
Nowadays it’s OK for women to wear pants, but not so long ago it was – My goodness! Talk about rebellion! Cultural.
Donald Trump and the Rule of Law
- By Judge Andrew Napolitano
Last week, The New York Times published a scathing critique of Donald Trump -- the man and the president. The Times said the critique was written by a senior Trump administration official who insisted on remaining unnamed. This bitter and harsh editorial, which portrays the president as dangerous to the health of the republic and his White House as slouching toward dysfunctionality, has understandably infuriated him.
Trump first accused the Times and its unnamed writer of treason, and then he publicly asked for a Department of Justice investigation to find the writer. Then, to change the subject, he threatened to declassify documents submitted to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court in 2016 -- before he was president -- that he believes were used to commence the Robert Mueller-led investigation of his presidential campaign.

- By Christian Newswire
Americans Concerned About Ongoing Surveillance and Censorship Leave Facebook in Record Numbers as Stock Plunges 24% in 45 Days
PHILADELPHIA -- Just how bad is it at Facebook? Consider this-in just 45 days, Facebook lost over $140 billion in market capitalization. The stock dropped from $217 on July 25, 2018 to $162.53 on September 6, 2018. And now, nearly half of millennials along with nearly 10 percent of all Americans have deleted their Facebook accounts.
The question to ask is why Facebook is losing billions of dollars and millions of users. There are multiple reasons for the exodus; here are just a few:
The Post-9/11 Cycle of Cynicism
- By Michelle Malkin
Remember. Forget. Repeat.
For 17 years, America has engaged in a collective ritual every Sept. 11: Hang flags, light candles, bow heads and make vows to "Never forget."
Then, every Sept. 12, it's back to business as usual: See something, do nothing.
Did you remember that five of the 9/11 hijackers -- Mohamed Atta, Marwan al-Shehhi, Hani Hanjour, Nawaf al-Hazmi and Satam al-Suqami -- carried out their killer plot after overstaying their visas, evading detection and avoiding deportation?

Christian Advertisements Ordered Removed From High School Football End Zones
- By Christian Newswire
MADISON, Wis. -- Before a Louisiana high school football game, two Benton High School students were told they had to remove Christian logos from the end zones. The two students left the field and did not help those who removed the logos.
The "Christ Fit Gym" logos included a cross and Bible verse. A business, Christ Fit Gym, paid the football booster club $3,500 for the 2018-19 season to display the logos.
In February, Americans United for Separation of Church and State filed a federal lawsuit against the school district. They complained the district promoted Christianity and was trying to convert students.

Contact Your Representatives to Tell Them Not to Allow Planned Parenthood Funding in Appropriations Bill
- By Eagle Forum
The House and Senate announced that they will meet together this week to discuss funding of the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Labor, Health and Human Services (Labor-HHS) appropriations packages. The House never passed a Labor-HHS bill, so they are planning to accept the Senate’s version, even though it has funding for Planned Parenthood. In addition, they plan to keep it attached to the DOD appropriations bill which will force Republicans to take a vote that funds the military in exchange for continuing the evil practices of abortion clinics.
