Trustee June Meeting print

Members of the North Greenville University (NGU) Board of Trustees, Board Chair Mike Hamlet, and committee chairs praised the leadership, faculty, staff, and students for successfully navigating a unique year at their June meeting.

"It has certainly been a challenging year, but our leadership has done a tremendous job in helping us move forward," said Hamlet.

Board members gathered in the Craft-Hemphill building to meet, enjoy fellowship, and experience the new updates made to the interior spaces.

The Craft-Hemphill Center for Apologetics and Christian Worldview, completed in August 2011, provides the University with a "training and sending hub" for students working in global leadership roles. The Center offers resources to help students on and off campus express a comprehensive Christian worldview. The Center includes nine offices, four classrooms, three resource rooms, a conference room, and the multi-purpose Mission Control Auditorium.

BJU President Steve Pettit

Bob Jones University was unanimously approved as a member of the South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (SCICU) by the Board of Trustees Tuesday, July 21, 2021. The SCICU board includes the presidents of the 20 member institutions and up to 42 at-large members who are community and business leaders.

On March 15, SCICU officials conducted a BJU site visit and interacted with University leadership during the application process. During a presentation to the SCICU board, BJU President Steve Pettit presented his vision for the University which includes expanding academic offerings and becoming a full member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III.

The nation's eyes are on critical race theory, but just as critical is what's happening with sex ed. While parents everywhere rise up over the flood of woke curriculum, they're also getting a good look behind the curtain at what their children are hearing about sex. And it's just as shocking -- if not worse. It's so graphic, one Minnesota state representative told a reporter, that her colleagues didn't even want to look at the examples on the House floor. "We couldn't show this on the 10 [o'clock] news," she said, but "we want our fourth-grade children to be looking at it?"

BJU Cinema Students 2019

Bob Jones University cinema students were recently recognized by the Intercollegiate National Religious Broadcasters (iNRB) 2021 in a virtual award ceremony. This is the seventh time BJU students have entered the competition. They have won awards in the film category every year. This year, they swept the film category.

NRB presents awards to undergraduate or graduate student iNRB members for outstanding examples of radio, television, and film productions. The annual convention allows students to network with professionals in their fields and participate in workshops related to Christian media.

The Skilled Trades Alliance (STA), a start-up non-profit organization in Greenville, has partnered with North Greenville University (NGU) to provide unique internship opportunities to NGU’s marketing, management, and digital art/communications undergraduate students. The partnership will begin in the Fall 2021 semester.

The College of Business and Entrepreneurship Associate Dean for Undergraduate Business Programs Dr. Rick Martinez says the College recognizes how critical it is for young professionals to expand their education, network, and skills through experience in real-life organizations.

Hemphill Award Brashier 2021 print

Recognizing the life work of a mentor to pastors, North Greenville University (NGU) recently presented the 2021 Paula and Ken Hemphill Award for Denominational Service to the late Dr. T. Walter Brashier, Sr. The honor was bestowed posthumously to the noted real estate developer who died March 24, 2021, at the age of 86, after battling several health issues in recent years.

“Many do not realize that Dr. Brashier was also an evangelist,” said NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. “He preached over 1,000 revivals across the Carolinas, and he was a mentor to pastors all over the place.”

The Hemphill Award was presented on June 15 in Nashville, TN, at NGU’s Alumni and Friends Dinner during the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting. More than 90 people were in attendance at the dinner in the Aquarium Restaurant.

TriState Deaf School of Theology

North Greenville University (NGU) and TriState Deaf School of Theology (TDST) are partnering to provide the NGU Bridge Program to offer select undergraduate courses for the 2021-22 academic year. The NGU Bridge Program is designed to provide accredited transferable college credit to qualified TDST students in support of their educational development.

“NGU has a long history of supporting education for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and we are grateful for a variety of partnerships we enjoy in this important area,” said NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. “The TriState School is another opportunity for us to apply our mission—’equipping transformational leaders for church and society’—in this important community and serving the Kingdom with these programs.”
