NGU Student Awarded SCACPA Accounting Scholarship

The South Carolina Association of CPAs (SCACPA) Educational Fund Trustees has awarded $64,500 to 43 exceptional students who plan to pursue a career in accounting. The scholarship recipients represent 16 South Carolina colleges and universities. One of the outstanding student recipients is North Greenville University’s Sarah Grace Kelley from Landrum.

The North Greenville University (NGU) Board of Trustees held their fall meeting on Thursday, Oct. 22. A healthy and supportive Board affirmed the accomplishments of the NGU community and leadership. After navigating a successful in-person fall semester, the University celebrated the opening of Neves Hall and the IT Center.

Van Riper to Bring December Undergraduate Commencement Address

North Greenville University (NGU) has announced that its Consultant for Public Affairs Lisa Van Riper, will be the December undergraduate commencement speaker on Friday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. in Turner Chapel on the NGU campus.
Despite the emotionally-paralyzing pandemic this past year, NGU remains strong and experienced a positive fall semester. The COVID-19 protocols released by the University for the fall semester will also guide the commencement experience. It remains the University’s highest priority to provide as safe an environment as possible to our community and guests.

BJU Invites Community to Drive-Thru Christmas Light Display

Bob Jones University invites the Greenville community to drive through front campus for the annual display of Christmas lights from Dec. 4, 2020 - Jan. 4, 2021.
“While we are unable to host our highly anticipated Christmas Celebration events for the public, the community is welcome to enjoy our Christmas light display featuring the illuminated Nativity scene crafted by BJU graduate and local sculptor Doug Young,” said BJU President Steve Pettit. “We trust it will serve as a reminder of Christ’s birth and the true meaning for the season.”
The display can be viewed from dusk until dawn by entering the Wade Hampton Boulevard entrance.

NGU Honors Donors at Annual Celebration

The North Greenville University (NGU) community gathered on Oct. 8 at the Cannon Centre in downtown Greer for a Red Carpet Gala in thankfulness to its annual financial supporters. The evening was filled with musical performances from the Cline School of Music faculty and students and testimonials from current students.
During the event, the University recognized donors who have shown exemplary service and commitment to giving in 2019-20. The 2020 Red Carpet Gala Awards were presented to:

Former North Greenville President Paul Talmadge Passes Away

Dr. Paul A. Talmadge, the sixth president of the then North Greenville College (NGC), died November 20. He served as president from 1988 to 1991.
"President Talmadge was a gentleman and a scholar, which is among the highest praise a university can offer someone of his generation. He loved this community deeply and served sacrificially," said NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. "His entire career was spent investing in Christ-first education, primarily in faculty roles at NGU and our sister institution Anderson University. In retirement, he joined the Billy Graham Training Center staff in Asheville before retiring with his wife, Billie. We pray for his entire family as they mourn his loss."
