Fireworks to Cap Week-Long Celebration at BJU

Bob Jones University will host a 15-minute fireworks display on Friday, March 19, in Alumni Stadium at approximately 8:30 p.m. as part of its biennial week-long Bruins Daze celebration.
Local residents are asked to take precautions for pets and individuals with sensitivity issues during the event.

The Collegian Staff Wins SCPA Awards

The South Carolina Press Association (SCPA) recognized staff members of Bob Jones University’s student newspaper, The Collegian, with multiple awards for 2020. Both individual staff members and The Collegian staff in its entirety were honored.
While winners were announced last week, the SCPA will present the awards at its annual meeting later this year.

BJU Presents A Tale of Two Cities: The Musical

Bob Jones University will present “A Tale of Two Cities: The Musical” March 9, 12 - 13, 2021, at 7:30 p.m. in Rodeheaver Auditorium.
Based on Charles Dickens' masterpiece, “A Tale of Two Cities” is a classic story about love, revolution and redemption. Composer and lyricist Jill Santoriello created the musical version of this important work which appeared on Broadway in 2008.

Bob Jones University to De-Escalate COVID Protocols

Bob Jones University President Steve Pettit announced today that BJU will begin a phased approach to de-escalate the COVID-19 protocols on its campus beginning tomorrow.
Since the beginning of February, BJU has experienced a 90% drop in its positivity rate among the campus community. As of Monday, March 1, BJU has three positive student cases and one positive faculty/staff case.

NGU Hires New Chief Financial Officer

North Greenville University (NGU) named Michael Stowell as senior vice president for finance (CFO). While he has been serving in an interim capacity since the summer, he officially began leading NGU's financial team effective Feb. 1.
Stowell, a seasoned finance professional, was introduced to NGU in 2020 when his services were engaged, through the firm CFO Colleague, to provide interim financial and operational guidance.

BJU Bible Conference Fundraiser Raises over $211,000 for Medical Center

Bob Jones University students spearheaded multiple fundraising efforts with the goal of raising $200,000 to build a medical center in the Ivory Coast as part of their annual Bible Conference offering fundraising campaign. After two weeks of dedicated effort, BJU President Steve Pettit announced on Friday night, Feb. 19, the University community raised a total of $211,053.67 for the construction and furnishing of Hope Christian Health Center in Ivory Coast, West Africa.

Equipped and set a blaze for ministry, NGU hosts SCBC Converge and Immersion

The South Carolina Baptist Convention (SCBC) held their Converge and Immersion conferences at North Greenville University (NGU) on January 29-30. The meetings, annually held in Hilton Head, were relocated to college campuses this year because of COVID social distancing protocols.
The Immersion program helps participants discover God’s original design for the church – a community of biblical disciple-makers who make more disciple-makers. An SCBC facilitator led the majority of the Immersion experience in small group settings to teach students and faculty members how to better facilitate small groups by leading by example. On Friday, the SCBC team lead in games, one large session, and three small group sessions.
