Karley Conklin of Fountain Inn was awarded the Bielecki-Willard Interdisciplinary Studies Student of the Year Award at a recent annual awards day ceremony held at North Greenville University. The interdisciplinary studies faculty chose Conklin based on her academic record and achievements.
Susan Plumblee from Taylors was honored with the Spanish Academic Excellence Award at a recent annual awards day ceremony held at North Greenville University. The award is given to the student with the highest GPA in two semesters of Spanish during the academic year.

Tigerville, SC – James Gilbert of Travelers Rest was honored with the Excellence in Hebrew Award at a recent annual awards day ceremony held at North Greenville University. The award was given to the student with the highest GPA in two semesters of Hebrew during the academic year.

The Annual Community Day at Washington Center

During a recent school-wide Community Day event, Washington Center students had the opportunity to experience a variety of activities through local service providers. Following classroom instruction about Community Helpers, representatives came to the campus to offer first-hand experiences. The Greenville City Police K9 Unit, Swamp Rabbit Hockey team, construction equipment operators and firefighters were on hand to demonstrate their occupation. The success of bringing the community to the students has made Community Day an annual event at Washington Center.

NGU Athletics Wins Conference Carolinas’ Ultimate Award

Tigerville, SC - In conjunction with the Conference Carolinas spring meetings May 20-21, the Conference presented their 2018-19 End of the Year Awards. The awards presented were the Allan Sharp Award, Joby Hawn Cup, Messick Sportsmanship Award, and newly-created Body, Mind & Soul Award.
North Greenville University (NGU) has been named the inaugural winner of the Body, Mind & Soul Award. The award will be given each year to the conference institution with the best average rankings in the Hawn Cup, Allan Sharp, and Messick awards.

GCS Board of Trustees Unanimously Approve FY 20 Budget

Tuesday, the Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees unanimously approved the administration’s recommended FY 20 General Fund Budget. The $668.4 million budget increases teacher pay, reduces elementary class sizes, ensures a 30 minute daily planning for all teachers and adds more counselors at the middle and high school levels.

Greenville Technical Charter High School Graduates 5 Associate Degrees

Greenville Technical Charter High School graduates 103 seniors today, 5 of whom have earned Associate Degrees along with their high school diplomas.
Greenville Technical Charter High School, a non-merit public charter school and middle college, celebrates its 2019 graduates at a commencement ceremony at Furman University today at 4:30 PM. Eighty-five percent of the students of the class of 2019 took at least one college course while in high school and altogether completed 2,883 college credit hours with a staggering 54.5% of seniors earning 24 or more college credit hours. Five of the students earned an Associates degree: Jadin Beek, Brylan Hoxworth, Yazmin Martinez, Austin Meadows, and Manuela Velez.
