Hillcrest 2014 AAAA State Champions

In December 2014, the Hillcrest High School Rams defeated Dutch Fork 47-17 to win the South Carolina AAAA Division I State Championship. Hillcrest, which had won only two playoff games in their previous 56 seasons, went 14-1 in 2014 to win the school’s first ever football state title. Councilman Butch Kirven, representing Greenville County Council, presented Coach Greg Porter and the team with a Proclamation honoring the team for their historic accomplishment.

Hershey Briefed Delegation on Live Free Abstinence Education

Julie Hershey, Founder and Executive Director of Live Free Abstinence Education, addressed the Greenville County Legislative Delegation, Monday, January 12 in Greenville.
Live Free’s Mission is to equip youth to live free from the damaging consequences of sexual activity outside marriage and to make choices consistent with their values.
Live Free utilizes trained abstinence educators to present an evidence based and medically accurate abstinence curricula to both boys and girls.
During 2014 Live Free served 2,935 students with direct abstinence education services using Choosing the Best curriculum. The non-profit organization served 77 parents with information workshops regarding Choosing the Best.

Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher Middle School Dedication

Hundreds of parents, students, administrators, community members, and business leaders turned out for the dedication ceremony for Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher Middle School, located at 700 Millennium Boulevard in the Clemson University International Center for Automotive Research Park.
Former GCS Superintendent Dr. Phinnize J. Fisher, for whom the school is named, was the guest of honor. Dr. Fisher served Greenville County Schools from May, 2004 until April, 2012.

Monteith Crowned Miss NGU 2015

Tigerville, SC – Megan Lindler, Miss North Greenville University 2014, passed her crown to Samantha Monteith from Pooler, GA at the 61st annual Miss NGU Pageant on Saturday, October 18 in Turner Chapel.
Monteith won a $1,000 scholarship and will compete next summer in the Miss South Carolina Pageant.
The first runner-up honor and talent award went to Miranda Gilbert from Chesnee, SC.
