Sherman’s Campaign against Atlanta 1864
- By Mike Scruggs
The Legacy of Total War Strategy
Many historians date the Atlanta campaign from late April 1864 to September 2, 1864. The September 2 date, however, only marks the withdrawal of General Hood’s Confederate forces from Jonesboro and the official surrender by Atlanta Mayor, James Calhoun. That leaves out an important part of the history. It was not until November 12 that Sherman destroyed Atlanta by ordering all buildings except homes and churches to be burned. Many homes and churches, however, were caught up in the conflagration.
Union forces had begun to probe Confederate strength south of Ringgold, Georgia on April 24 with the objective of a major advance on Atlanta, an important Confederate railroad center and supply depot. Up until the middle of May, General Joe Wheeler’s Confederate cavalry were able to frustrate Sherman’s enormous army of over 100,000 men attempting to advance toward Atlanta.

“Q”: Quack, Quisling, or Conspiracy Theory? – Part 1
- By W.H. Lamb
Before we dig into the “Q” phenomenon, let’s define some terms:
- QUACK: Obviously, the usual sound that a duck makes; but in this context, the derisive term aimed at a member of a profession, such as an attorney or, most often, a doctor, when it is discovered that said “professional” was never trained in that discipline but has been practicing it for a long time, many times injuring his/her victims either financially or medically, or both;
- QUISLING: A traitor who collaborates with an enemy force occupying one’s country. Named after Vidkun Quisling, a Norwegian army officer who founded Norway’s Fascist Party in 1933. He met with Adolph Hitler in December 1939 and urged him to invade and occupy Norway, which Hitler did in April, 1940. Quisling served as the puppet or figurehead President of Norway for the Nazis from 1940 to 1945. After Norway’s liberation in 1945, Quisling was executed for treason;
- CONSPIRACY THEORY: Something that is believed by either a small or large group of people, sometimes true and sometimes not true, and usually called “silly” or “ridiculous” by those at whom the “facts” are aimed, and which are usually put forth to try to explain the “true story” behind a particular real world event or an unfavorable shift in the culture of a nation or nations.

Pennsylvania’s Heated Republican U.S. Senate Primary
- By Mike Scruggs
What’s behind Kathy Barnette’s Surge?
There are five U.S. Senate primaries on May 17. Pennsylvania may be the most important, because it is key to Republican hopes to recapture a Republican Senate majority. It has also become close and hotly contested with the two front-runners being unexpectedly challenged by an outspoken ultra-MAGA candidate.
Kathy Barnette is a 50-year-old black conservative woman. She is a strong Christian and considers herself an ultra-MAGA. A recent Fox poll shows her support surging in the eight candidate primary and closing fast on front-runners Dr. Mehmet Oz, 61, a TV celebrity heart surgeon, and Dave McCormick 57, decorated Army war veteran, businessman, and former U.S. Treasury Undersecretary. President Trump has endorsed Oz, and Texas Senator Ted Cruz has endorsed McCormick. Iowa Senator Joni Ernst bravely endorsed Barnette.

Liberty’s Statue Is Weeping!
- By W.H. Lamb
Before I begin this plunge into the heart of liberal dogma, let me state for the record that I am not against a degree of legal, restricted, and needful immigration. The vast majority of Americans living today had ancestors who emigrated from some other country and into the U.S. in the past. I am one of them, for both my maternal grandfather and grandmother came, LEGALLY, from the country of Croatia early in the 20th century, and I’m grateful that they did. America has been peopled by, and generally benefitted from, immigrants who came here from mostly European countries (with some exceptions) over much of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Except for some of the immigrants from Oriental nations, these European immigrants usually assimilated quickly, or at least their children did, and most became naturalized, proud and useful Americans, the vast majority of whom contributed much more to our nation that they took from it. Unfortunately, the same cannot honestly be claimed in regards to the disparate dregs of humanity who, legally or mostly otherwise, are entering our nation today.

Amnesty – The Road to Democrat Rule and National Suicide
- By Mike Scruggs
Reviewing the Danger and the Soft Power Solution
The Federation of Americans for Immigration Reform (FAIR) recently estimated that there are 15.5 million illegal immigrants in the United States. This was up 9.4 percent from the previous year and is now growing even faster because of the Biden Administration’s deliberately accelerated unlawful open-door immigration policies. Thus it would be conservative to estimate an illegal population of over 20 million by 2014, the next Presidential Election Year. FAIR also estimated that the fiscal costs alone would amount to $200 billion annually by 2025.

Decide This Day Whom You Will Serve!
- By W.H. Lamb
“And he said, Hearken ye all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou, King Jehoshaphat: Thus saith the Lord unto you, Fear you not, neither be afraid for this great multitude: FOR THE BATTLE IS NOT YOURS, BUT GOD’S.” (2nd Chronicles 20:15-17: 1599 Geneva Bible).
For those who are unaware, the 1599 Geneva Bible was the Bible used by our separatist Pilgrim Forefathers (they didn’t like the KJV because they really didn’t like King James, who had vowed to “harry them out of the land” of England because they would not conform to the teachings of the Church of England). Certainly it was read and preached from during the hazardous and tedious 66-day voyage from England to the New World during that increasingly stormy and harsh Fall on the Atlantic Ocean in 1620. Fierce storms and huge waves and wretched living conditions below decks would have turned most modern people back from whence they came. Not so for these 102 stalwart souls who had determined to separate from their old world and, trusting God for guidance and protection, build a new and religiously separate colony in the wilderness of North America.

Whoever Told You God Answers Prayer?
- By Ben Graydon
So, we go into the cosmic restaurant of the universe, help ourselves to a table, sit down, pick up a menu and read. After a minute we snap our fingers and God walks over, an apron around his waist and a pad and pencil in his hands. “What can I get you?” he asks. And we proceed to name off the things that we want. God writes them down, then asks, “Will that be all?” “For now,” we reply, “but I reserve the right to come back whenever I want and order up whatever I want then, and I know that you’ll ALWAYS honor my All You Can Eat For Free coupon – for life – right, God?”
