In honor of our WWII Veterans ~ The Collings Foundation’s Wings of Freedom Tour Brings Extremely Rare Bomber and Fighter Aircraft for Local Living History Display as Part of 110-city Nationwide Tour

Participating in the Collings Foundation’s WINGS OF FREEDOM TOUR, the B-17 Flying Fortress “Nine O Nine," B-24 Liberator “Witchcraft,” B-25 Mitchell "Tondelayo" bombers and P-51 Mustang "Toulouse Nuts" fighter, flew into the Greenville Downtown Airport for a visit from October 26th to 28th. This was a rare opportunity to visit, explore, and learn more about these unique and rare treasures of aviation history. The B-17 is one of only 9 in flying condition in the United States.

NGU to Honor Military, Veterans at Saturday's Football Game

Tigerville, SC (October 24, 2018) – North Greenville University will celebrate the service of our military and veterans at Military Appreciation Day this Saturday before the Crusaders' final home football game. NGU will take on the #17 ranked University of West Florida Argonauts on Saturday, October 27 at 1 p.m. in Melvin and Dollie Younts Stadium.
The military recognition will take place during the pre-game ceremony beginning at approximately 12:40 p.m. All community military service people, active and non-active, and their families will be admitted free to the football game with a military ID and is asked to be in their seats by 12:40 p.m. to take part in the recognition.

Grave Dedication

Sunday afternoon, October 21, 2018, 1 PM, a grave dedication ceremony was held for veterans of the Revolutionary war and the War between the Statedtes at Easley family cemetery outside Powdersville. The 16th South Carolina Color Guard provided flags and a gun salute. Julia Barnes, representing the Daughters of the American Revolution, daughters of 1812, and united daughters of the Confederacy open and the event with a prayer. Hope Kateman, president of the William Easley chapter, Udc, welcomed all and tell them about the cemetery. She expressed extreme appreciation for the work of Michael Adams Junior in cleaning the graveyard and ken neighbors for providing southern cross of honor. Especially honored were private Augustus lark, company, third Battalion South Carolina volunteers and Dr. Jon Macaffe Of field company a, Second South Carolina infantry.
