Tennessee, Montana Already Enacted Laws

Utah has become the third state to adopt a law exempting guns and ammunition made, sold and used in the state from federal regulations under the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Tennessee and Montana have already enacted such laws, and reports indicate 30 additional states have initiated action in some form to challenge the federal government and seek exemptions from gun regulations.

DeMint hosts reception for Marco Rubio, the popular conservative US Senate candidate from Florida

Senator-Jim-DeMintThe Greenville Marriott on Monday evening, March 15, was the scene of a reception for Marco Rubio, a US Senate candidate from Florida, sponsored by Senator Jim DeMint. The topic of the evening was: “How Americans can take back our country.”

Marco Rubio is former Speaker of the House for the State of Florida. He is 38 years old and father of four children under the age of nine.

Harry Cato Has First Serious Opposition in 19 Years as Lawmaker

Rep. Harry Cato, who was first elected to the South Carolina House to represent District 17 in 1990 and was elected Speaker Pro Tempore of the House in 2008, is facing two challengers in the June 8 Republican primary election. Cato has been the only candidate on the ballot for most of his 10 District 17 elections and has never been challenged in a Republican primary.

Shortly before his death at the Battle of Franklin, Tennessee, on November 30, 1864, Irish-born Confederate Major General Patrick Cleburne reminded his comrades in arms of the possible cost of surrender:

H. 4059 Would Require Driver Involved in Fatal Accident to be Tested for alcohol or drugs

The South Carolina House of Representatives Judiciary Sub-Committee met on Thursday, March 4, to consider a bill proposed by Rep. Tommy Stringer of District 18 that includes the Greer-Blue Ridge area of Greenville County. The bill, H. 4059 would require a driver (such as in the recent Ludwig case) to be tested for alcohol or drugs if the accident results in a fatality.
