Veterans Jailed for Criticism of Government Policies
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
“A Government System is Targeting Military Veterans for Expressing their Discontent over America's Rapid Transition to a Police State.”
John W. Whitehead, president of the Rutherford Institute, has announced that his organization has filed a lawsuit on behalf of a Marine who was jailed and held for the comments he made on Facebook that expressed dissatisfaction with the policies and direction of the Obama Administration.
The lawsuit filed in U. S. District Court in Richmond, Virginia, claims the seizure and detention of the veteran is part of a plan “executed by the Obama administration called Operation Vigilant Eagle... A federal program to do surveillance on military veterans who express views critical of the government.”
Backlash Against Common Core
- By Phyllis Schlafly
The national news media haven’t discovered it, but the issue that is bringing out hundreds of citizens who never before attended political meetings is Common Core (CC). More precisely, it is the attempt of Barack Obama’s Department of Education to force all states and schools to adopt specified national education standards for each grade level that will dictate what all kids learn and don’t learn.
Common Core means federal control of school curriculum, i.e., control by Obama Administration leftwing bureaucrats. Federal control will replace all curriculum decisions by state and local school boards, state legislatures, parents, and even Congress because Obama bypassed Congress by using $4 billion of Stimulus money to promote Common Core.
It’s not only public schools that must obey the fed’s dictates. Common Core will control the curriculum of charter schools, private schools, religious schools, Catholic schools, and homeschooling.
The Doctrine of Tyranny Revisited
- By Frank Hall - Greenville, SC
Eighty years ago I was a seven-year-old boy with a twelve-year-old brother. We had chores to do, so we didn’t get a lot of playing time, but when we did have time to play we did what Charlie wanted to do because he was bigger, stronger, and tougher. He practiced the Doctrine of Tyranny, not the Doctrine of Shared Power. I didn’t like this arrangement, and several times it erupted in fist fights. I knew Charlie would mop the floor with me but I didn’t care. I wanted, even demanded, a more equal say-so in our activities.
A Taste of Tyranny!
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
For several years now, this column has warned of the potential for tyrannical government gaining a foothold in the United States of America. Now in the second term of the Obama – Biden Administration we are getting a taste of tyranny that is destined to become much worse. We have “Fast and Furious,” Benghazi, using the IRS to persecute and punish Conservative organizations, using the military to promote the agenda of feminists, homosexuals and terrorists; Refusing to control the border with Mexico and enforce immigration laws; and support for persecution of Christians and Christian organizations.
3rd Annual Cardiac Arrest Survivor Ceremony
- By James "Chip" Moore
On May 10, 2013 Greenville County held its 3rd Annual Cardiac Arrest Survivor Ceremony at the Embassy Suites. Survivors and Honorees filled the room reunited again. Since beginning these ceremonies in 2010, cardiac arrest survivors have more than doubled. The annual ceremony honors those individuals and organizations that made each of those life saving events possible.
“It was no more than half a century ago that we would never conceive this type of ceremony. EMS was such a new thing. My message to you is to keep doing what you’re doing because it’s working,” said John Zaragosa, Director of Greenville County EMS.
Greenville County Salutes Fallen Officers at Memorial Service
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Greenville County held a memorial service May 14, 2013 for fallen officers. Forty-two law enforcement officers have been killed in the line of duty in Greenville county since 1797. Three of them were county sheriff’s. They were Sheriffs Robert Maxwell, Hendrix Rector and Sam D. Willis.
Eleven Deputy Sheriffs have died in the line of duty. The first was Deputy Sheriff Eli Pittman in 1906 and the last was Deputy Sheriff Andrew John Mazur in 2003. No Greenville County law enforcement officer has died in the line of duty in a decade. Seven died during the previous decade.
War Declared on Christians in the Military
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Military Personnel told they must not Share Faith in God, or They will Face Discipline, Discharge or Court-Martial
There are numerous reports indicating that the Obama Pentagon is “about to implement a new policy under which any members of the military ‘caught’ talking about their Christian faith will be subject to court martial or imprisonment!”
The Washington Post reported April 26th that anti-Christian activist Mikey Weinstein met with senior Air Force officials to discuss “religious issues” in the military. Weinstein heads up the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF). He is quoted as writing: “We must vigorously
Regain Your Independence
- By James "Chip" Moore
Devanny educates on Jeffersonian culture
Americans are slowly losing their independence in an age where big business and big government go hand in hand.
“If you wish to revive Jeffersonianism then you have to revive the culture of Jeffersonianism,” said Dr. John Devanny, an associate scholar with the Abbeville Institute.
According to Devanny, Thomas Jefferson had the “rightful remedy” to tyranny. While speaking to the Greenville Tea Party on May 9, Devanny explained that the Jefferson Republic is dependent on ownership.
“You must have people that own farms and own small businesses in order to secure a republic,” said Devanny.
Administration out of Control
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
It’s wake-up time in America. For the first time since Federal troops were removed from the South Carolina State Capitol building in 1876, the United States government is at war with a large segment of the American People, including almost all but the hand-picked yes-men at the top of the military services. For the first time in recent history the Commander-in-Chief and the chain of command broke with long standing tradition and intentionally refused to go to the aid of Americans under siege. This is unforgivable and a serious blow to morale of an already demoralized military and CIA.
Prisoners held by the Communists in Hanoi held out and endured unspeakable torture with the knowledge that a grateful nation would eventually come to their aid. President Lyndon Johnson failed to do so, but the American people elected Richard Nixon and President Nixon brought them home to a heroes welcome with a state dinner at the White House.

Future Military Leaders Win Awards
- By Tammy Johnston
“America needs more leaders that understand sacrifice and the satisfaction of being a part of something bigger than themselves,” exclaims Principal Radford of Wade Hampton High School as he speaks proudly of the JROTC Cadet winners at the awards ceremony last Wednesday night, May 8, 2013 before a packed crowd of parents and family members.
He goes on to say that the JROTC program gives the cadets the “building blocks” to prepare them for their future not only in military careers but also in civilian careers.
He believes these are the best students at WHHS and that they bring leadership to the student body. We had an opportunity to talk to three of the cadet student leaders that received awards and heard about their journey in the JROTC program and why they have enjoyed it so much.
Greenville County Drops Ethical Requirement for Boards and Commissions
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Individuals Benefiting Financially from Business with County Agencies may now legally serve on their Governing Boards
After several months of maneuvering and one vote of disapproval, seven members of Greenville County Council voted Tuesday, May 7 to repeal important ethical requirements for serving on county boards and commissions. The ordinance was repealed that prohibited individuals who themselves, their employer or family members benefit financially, through contracts or other arrangements with Greenville County government entities from serving on the boards or commissions that govern those taxpayer supported organizations.
The Nightmare Scenario
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
The “Nightmare Scenario” involves the immediate political and economic future of South Carolina, as well as the liberty and freedom of the citizens of the Palmetto State. It visualizes the Democrats taking the District One U. S. House Seat held previously by now United States Senator Tim Scott and sought by former Governor Mark Sanford. Such a victory would encourage the Obama Administration to do what is necessary to defeat Nikki Haley to take the Governor’s Mansion as well as the senate seat now held by Sen. Scott. The open primary system will assure the nomination of Sen. Lindsey Graham and he will receive many Democrat votes in the General Election.

Sen. Cruz Headlines Tribute to Jim DeMint
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
“Fearless” Texan Backed by DeMint Rising Force in GOP
South Carolina Republicans honored Former Senator Jim DeMint and his wife, Saturday, May 4, during the 46th annual Silver Elephant Celebration in Columbia. Texas Senator Ted Cruz was the dynamic guest speaker.
Cruz, whose parents escaped Castro’s Cuba, said he would not be in the United States Senate today were it not for Jim DeMint who campaigned for him and several other conservative senators including Rand Paul and Marco Rubio, who are making headlines in Washington. (More about DeMint in the next issue).
Cruz connected with his South Carolina audience immediately by invoking the name Travis and another South Carolinian who fought to the death in defense of the Alamo.

Amnesty Will Cost $6.3 Trillion
- By Mike Scruggs
The Heritage Foundation has just released its cost estimate for the Amnesty portion only of the Schumer-Rubio or "Gang-of-Eight" U.S. Senate "comprehensive immigration reform" bill, S.477. The Heritage report's author, Robert Rector, believes $6.3 Trillion is a conservative minimal estimate.
Adding $6.3 Trillion to an already dangerous $16.5 Trillion debt is reason enough for public alarm or for any sane member of Congress to vote against it. However, the Schumer-Rubio Senate bill contains far more special interest goodies than amnesty, as disastrous as amnesty for 11 million illegal immigrants would be.
Corruption in Government
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Is the government of South Carolina corrupt, or are all the allegations being surfaced false? Voters and taxpayers need to know the truth and a few brave souls are trying to make that happen.
For several years, I have been studying the life of Wade Hampton III. The third Wade Hampton was a wealthy South Carolina Plantation owner who pledged everything but his principles and honor to the defense of his state. He sacrificed his wealth and worldly possessions in defense of the Palmetto State. A decade after the War for Southern Independence, he led the “Second American Revolution” in 1876 to rid South Carolina of the most corrupt state government in the history of the United States. That corrupt government, headed by Governor Moses “the Robber Governor” was kept in power by 96,000 black troops with bayonets, backed by the federal government.

Robelot has strong family ties to Greenville. Her uncle was Major. Rudolf Anderson, the U-2 Pilot killed during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Medicaid Expansion: What You Hear vs. What You See
- By Dr. Keith Smith
The strongest advocate for expanding Medicaid—and the likely source of funding for the massive advertising campaign—is the hospital lobby.
We hear that hospitals are going broke. They can’t make ends meet. The uninsured are breaking the hospitals’ backs from emergency room over-utilization. Hospitals won’t survive unless Medicaid is expanded. (This is the most interesting claim, as hospitals simultaneously complain that underpayment by Medicaid justifies their cost-shifting to others!)
These are the lies that are primarily responsible for bringing us ObamaCare.
But if we look around us, what do we see?
The Booth Brothers
- By Keith Crowe
This week’s article is about a group of young men from Brandon, Florida, called The Booth Brothers.
As I said these men are young but the story goes back a lot further than these young men do. It all started with their dad, Ron Booth, and he was a long way from Florida when he got his start in gospel music.
Ron was born in West Virginia and moved to Detroit when he was thirteen years old and this is where the singing began. Ron had a brother named Charles and they began singing together. Soon after these two began to sing three other brothers joined the group and this was the beginning of the Booth Brothers. All this happened along about 1957.
The Enemy Within
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
The most frequent question asked by media and politicians since the Boston Marathon massacre is: “Why did they do it?”
The fact that this question is asked at all is an indication of the effectiveness of the politically correct pro-Islamic propaganda prom-ulgated by the Obama Administration.
The answer is clear: “These brothers are Muslims who received the call from a Jihad leader somewhere in the world to carry out a command to “Kill Infidels!” It was a command from their god. They surely felt honored to be called upon to serve their master. That should not be difficult to figure out, with the facts available. Yet moronic liberals continue to say such things as: “This may be a lone act by young people like happened at Columbine.” How ignorant!
Free Electricity at Taxpayer’s Expense
- By James "Chip" Moore
In 2009 Greenville County installed dual electric car charging stations with funds awarded through the Recovery Act: County of Greenville, SC Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant. These stations are located outside of 301 University Ridge. For over three years these charging stations have been available to the public free of charge.
The electricity that powers each station ties into the building’s electricity and is not a separate entity. Although it is reported that the stations are used sparingly, the funds to support these stations come out of the building’s electricity fund.
The purpose of the award is to implement the County’s Energy Efficiency and Conservation Strategy in order to reduce fossil fuel emissions; reduce total energy use of eligible entities; and improve energy efficiency in the building sector, transportation sector, and other appropriate sectors, along with creating jobs.
Wade Hampton Memorial Service
- By Robert Slimp
The Wade Hampton Camp No. 273 held it’s 11th annual celebration of the life and accomplishments of one of South Carolina’s most distinguished heroes on Sunday afternoon, April 7, at 2 o’clock.
More than one hundred people attended this event – besides the Wade Hampton Camp, SCV members, and interested people from different parts of South Carolina.
The Memorial service itself, was held in Keenan Chapel, which is part of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral. Immediately prior to the program was a concert by the Maplewood band, led by CPA Don Jones. They played on string instruments, The Rebel Soldier, What A Friend We have in Jesus, and The Old Rugged Cross, and, of course, “Dixie.”

The Pulpit Is Responsible For It
- By Chuck Baldwin
The famed 19th Century revivalist and major contributor to America’s “Second Great Awakening,” Charles Finney, said the following: “If there is a decay of conscience, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the public press lacks moral discernment, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the church is degenerate and worldly, the pulpit is responsible for it. If the world loses its interest in Christianity, the pulpit is responsible for it. If Satan rules in our halls of legislation, the pulpit is responsible for it. If our politics become so corrupt that the very foundations of our government are ready to fall away, the pulpit is responsible for it.” I believe Finney was absolutely correct.
