Children of the Confederacy Participate in Monument Dedication
- By Pam Evans
The Joseph Evan Davis Chapter #907 Children of the Confederacy was honored to participate in the Memorial Dedication Ceremony for the Monument honoring Union County Confederate Pensioners of Color on Saturday, December 8, 2012 in Monroe, NC. Andrew Myers, President of Joseph Evan Davis Chapter, brought greetings. Other members of the chapter distributed programs and memorial ribbons, and they reserved the seating for the descendants of the Confederate pensioners who were being honored. They had the honor of meeting Real Daughter, Mattie Clyburn Rice, and of seeing many Confederate artifacts, including the cane owned by President Jefferson Davis, that were on display inside the Union County Court House. This is the first monument of its kind to honor pensioners of color, and it was a privilege to have a part in this historic occasion. The Joseph Evan Davis Chapter is sponsored by Winnie Davis Chapter No. 442, United Daughters of the Confederacy.
End Gun Free School Zones
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
We have witnessed yet another massacre of innocent children in a gun free school zone. When will school decision-makers learn that teachers and administrators cannot protect children against a gun, knife or ball bat-wielding assailant with their bare hands? Children must be protected from evil people who would harm and even kill them. Teachers and administrators must be given the tools and ability to ensure safety to the greatest degree humanly possible. The “gun free” craze virtually prevents safe schools by creating a “soft target” for killers. Children become “sitting ducks” for deranged killers seeking fame as mass murderers.
The massacre of students and school staff in Connecticut, Friday, was a demonic act of evil. Could it have been prevented, or minimized? That answer, in my view and that of others, is a qualified “yes.” Measures could have been taken to discourage such behavior and limit the loss of life.
Haley Picks Scott to Replace DeMint
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Governor Nikki Haley named Rep. Tim Scott of Charleston to replace Sen. Jim DeMint as South Carolina’s Junior Senator.
Tim Scott has experienced the American dream. He is a self-made man, who listened to the advice of mentors and worked diligently. He was taught moral and ethical standards as a child in his home and church, and studied hard in school while working part-time jobs. He started and operated his own successful business, served on the Charleston County Council for a dozen years and was elected chairman four times.

A Few More Stops Before Home
- By Terry M. Thacker
Well, let's wrap this up, shall we? It's time for me to get back to Greenville so I can go back to work and make a living. I left you last week in Gettysburg and now I have to get back on the road and head south for about 500 miles. Yes, I am 500 miles away from home. Hey, that sounds like a good title for a song. I wonder if it's already taken.
Anyway, I left Gettysburg on that unseasonably chilly April morning, heading south on US 15 as it crosses the field over which General George Pickett's men charged almost 150 years ago. I crossed into Maryland and made my way to Frederick, a city I lived in for a while way back in the 80's.
My first top was the Roger B. Taney house, a brick structure located in the older part of town. Taney's place in history rests on writing the majority opinion in the famous Dred Scott case, asserting that Negro slaves were not citizens and were not entitled to the same rights as white men.
Reap As One Sows

Iran has stated from the beginning that its nuclear exploration was for the development of energy, and not for the development of its war machine. Israel already has nuclear weapons gained through the United States Government, its ally. If Iran sought to have nuclear weapons could it not have approached its Big Boy ally Russia, being a simple case of, “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander”?
Too Many Parallels to Ignore
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Having apologized to Rudy Schmidt and the Germans for believing Americans could never be deceived as they were by a popularly chosen leader, it is disturbing to view the similarities between the United States in 2012 and Germany in 1929-1939.
John Toland’s 2-volume Biography of Adolph Hitler published by Doubleday in 1976 describes a pre-World War II Germany in a way that reads like the headlines of today’s newspapers. Substitute the words “wealthy (successful productive) Americans” for “Jews” and you have what began as the demonization of a segment of society that was blamed for the financial problems of the nation and ended with what has become known as the Holocaust.
Please, NO Lying Contests
- By Frank Hall - Greenville, SC
If the Democrats say something is white it probably is black. If the Democrats say something is sweet it probably is sour. If the Democrats say, “This bill is the mainstay of our war on poverty,” it will probably increase, not decrease, poverty and dependence on government “charity.” If the Democrats say, “This bill will decrease pollution in our lakes and rivers,” it most likely won’t decrease pollution significantly, but it will force polluters to give big bucks to incumbent politicians’ re-election funds in order to obtain waivers and permits to keep on polluting.
‘Fiscal Cliff’ Planned Climax of ‘Cloward-Piven’ Strategy?

Strategy Seeks to Hasten Fall of Capitalism by Overloading Bureaucracy with Impossible Demands, Pushing Society into Crisis and Economic Collapse, Ushering in Socialism
Rush Limbaugh is one of the few public figures who has the courage to state emphatically that President Obama has no intention of fixing the economy.
“He’s at maximum damage potential right now. He can inflict the greatest damage possible for the purpose of transforming the country from capitalism to Western European socialism.” Limbaugh said on his radio program Monday afternoon, December 10, 2012.
The strategy being used by the Obama administration is thoroughly understood by the radical socialists running the country and the leadership of theDemocratic Party. Leading Republicans in the Congress are apparently clueless, or at least they appear to be.
Holiday Pampering For Man’s Best Friend
- By Tammy Johnston
This past Saturday, Animal Care sponsored a fun-filled holiday event for God’s precious animals and their loving owners.
The event had toys, bowls and homemade dog treats that the owners could buy as stocking stuffers for their furry friends for Christmas.
The highlight of the event was the picture with Santa. Dogs came dressed in their favorite holiday fashions from red velvet outfits to bows and ribbons; each animal was ready to sit on Santa’s lap. After getting their picture taken, their owners could sit at the craft table and create a picture frame as a gift to give to a loved one of their animal sitting with Santa.

The excitement from 1,000 plus participants and 30 parade volunteers resonated through the chilly sunny December morning this past Saturday at the fun but chaotic staging area for the Travelers Rest parade.
All the participants had to line up in numerical processional order for the 10 am ride down through the streets of Travelers Rest.
Greenville High School Navy JROTC started the parade.
The Mayor of Travelers Rest, Wayne McCall, was next in the processional as well as other local and state officials – the State Senator Mike Fair, State Senator Tom Corbin, County Councilman Joe Dill, County Treasurer Jill Kintigh, and Sheriff Loftis from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

America, once “Divine Blessed,” Today, knows not God nor His “Works”

“And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.”
(Genesis 1:28)
“And there arose another generation after them, which knew not the Lord, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.”
(Judges 2:10)
To understand American history one must approach the subject from realization that first immigrants to America were Caucasian, predominately European, and descendents of Noah’s son, Japheth.
At the time of the Great Flood, God chose to save only Noah, his wife, three sons, Shem, Ham, Japheth, and their wives—a total eight people of the earth’s total inhabitants.
Sorry, Rudy! We Learned nothing from your Experience

LaVerle turned to me one evening recently and said: “I believe we already have a dictatorship.”
She said what I have been reluctant to even think. If we can believe the election results, a majority of the American people who bothered to register and vote elected Barack Obama to a second 4-year term as president of the United States. How could that have happened in view of his actions during the first four- year term?

Zais Speaks to Greenville Tea Party
- By James "Chip" Moore
When South Carolina State Superintendent of Education Dr. Mick Zais was elected to office he said, “To the best of my ability I will try to run the department like a business.”
Since being in office Zais has made progress in reorganizing agencies and has made the department more efficient. By reducing the size and cost of the department, Zais is able to put that money into the classroom. While speaking to the Greenville Tea Party on Thursday, November 29, 2012, he explained that 577 staff positions have been reduced down to 469. The reduction in size is permanent and permission from the General Assembly is needed to add any more positions. Zais stated that he is not done and will be eliminating more positions by not continuing them after they expire.

A Deserving Woman Receives Fire Fighter of the Year Award
- By Tammy Johnston
Lois Keenan, Firefighter from River Falls Fire Department, Marietta, SC, received the coveted Firefighter of the Year award from her Fire Chief, David Emory, at their Christmas Firefighter Dinner this past Saturday evening. She is only the second woman in the 26-year history of the fire department to receive this prestigious award.
She recounts the moment that led up to the award. “I was not sure it was me. When they called my name, I was beside myself. I had tears in my eyes, and I could not stop grinning. I danced up to David Emory and thanked him, “So many other firefighters deserve this award more than me. I felt honored and proud that I was chosen to have received this award.”
Veterans Honored at A Veterans Appreciation Ceremony
- By Pam Evans
Joseph Evan Davis Chapter #907, Children of the Confederacy, Honors Veterans at November Veterans Appreciation Ceremony
The Creed of the Children of the Confederacy Organization states:
“Because we desire to perpetuate, in love and honor, the heroic deeds of those who enlisted in the Confederate Services, and upheld its flag through four years of war, we, the children of the South, have united in an Organization called the “Children of the Confederacy,” in which our strength, enthusiasm and love of justice can exert its influence. We therefore pledge ourselves to preserve pure ideas: to honor the memory of our beloved Veterans: to study and teach the truths of history (one of the most important of which is, that the War Between the States was not a rebellion, nor was its underlying cause to sustain slavery). And always to act in a manner that will reflect honor upon our noble and patriotic ancestors.”
There They Go Again!
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Obama killed Osama, saved General Motors for the Auto Workers Union, gave homosexuals protected status, promised to legalize millions of illegal aliens, stonewalled Congress on “Fast and Furious” and “Bengazi,” sued sovereign states, ignored the Constitution and somehow won a second term as President of the United States.
Now the Obama Administration and supporters have advice for the moderate liberals running the National Republican Party. “To win future elections, you must become more like us.” The moderate Republicans are swallowing the bait as if they were mindless guppies. They are grateful that the Socialist Democrats are so friendly and helpful. Now, finally, they can work together and compromise to solve the nation’s problems and win a share of elections.

“This agenda is destroying America, and I’m tired of it,” Butch Taylor, president of the Greenville County Taxpayer’s Association said, addressing the County Legislative Delegation that had just sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of South Carolina.
Taylor was holding a copy of the published United Nations Agenda 21 in his raised hand as he spoke.
“For the past fourteen years I have been sounding the alarm about Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development. Alabama got rid of Agenda 21 and South Carolina needs to get rid of it too.”

Voter Fraud Helped Win the Election
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Did voter fraud help Barack Obama win a second term as president of the United States? To me, the answer is a definite “Yes!”
Why would I say that? Can it be proven? Again, I believe the answer is “Yes!” The evidence I have seen without a formal search is overwhelming. All of the Obama special interest groups, from the NAACP to the ACLU and the labor unions fought every effort of states to prevent voter fraud. They were joined in their opposition to voter ID laws by none other than the Attorney General of the United States and the Justice Department.
Graham Responds to Obama
- By James "Chip" Moore
After comments from President Obama were directed to him regarding Ambassador Susan Rice, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham made himself available to the media on Monday, November 19, 2012, at his office building located in downtown Greenville, so that he could respond.
“Regarding President Obama’s statement about Senator McCain and myself, I just want the President to know that I do hold him ultimately responsible for what happened in Benghazi, above all others. And I think him calling out myself and Senator McCain is a political diversion. He has an obligation to tell the American people what he knew, when he knew it, and what he did about it. He’s yet to fulfill this obligation,” said Graham.

Greenville County Chicken Ordinance Dead – For Now

Council Majority Fouled by their Own Rules
The Greenville County proposed Chicken Ordinance met its fate Tuesday, November 6, by a vote of seven in favor, three against and two absent. The controversial ordinance is now dead, at least for a while.
Some Council members stated that without the ordinance some chicken owners in zoned areas of the county are vulnerable to being cited by county inspectors for having chickens.
