- By Benton Blount - Chairman of Greenville County Council
Greenville County is growing by more than 20 people every single day. That growth brings a massive strain on roads, water, sewer, public safety, parks, and our schools.
This Tuesday, County Council and the Planning Commission will meet jointly with Carson Bise, one of the most respected impact fee consultants in America, with over 30 years of experience and more than 350 successful projects.
Individual Choice vs Government Tyranny: The Debate Goes ON
- Details
- By Tom DeWeese - American Policy Center

In the Fall of 2006, I received a most unexpected invitation to travel to Cambridge University in Great Britain and take part in a debate before a 200-year-old debating society called the Cambridge Union. The issue we were to debate – “This House believes that the United Nations is a dead loss!” There was an issue I could easily get behind.
My opponents in the debate included Simon Hughes, a member of Parliament and President of the Liberal Democrats; Lord David Hanney, Former UK Ambassador to the UN; and Salil Shetty, Director of the UN’s Millennium Campaign. The two other debaters who were supposed to be on my side were both pro-UN leftists. So, it was a typical five-to-one debate.
The Biggest Conservative Victory in 30 Years

Everyone knows that the "big, beautiful" tax bill signed into law on the Fourth of July lowers tax burdens for families and businesses. It also averts a $4 trillion tax increase starting next year. That's enough reason to heartily celebrate.
But what isn't well known is that this new law doesn't just change tax policy. It includes dozens of other long-sought policy goals -- what I call "hidden gems." Here is a list of some of the major policy victories:
The law is the most aggressive federal advancement of school choice by allowing low-income parents to direct education dollars to private, charter or Catholic schools that are better for their kids.
Is Evolution Inherently Atheistic?
- Details
- By Charles Creager, Jr.
In the discussion about evolution there is definitely an atheistic tone among evolutionists. When dealing with the question of whether or not evolution itself is inherently atheistic you have to specify what you mean by evolution. Evolutionists frequently use the word evolution to refer to both adaptation and universal common descent despite the fact that they are not the same thing. Their thinking is that over the long-haul adaptation leads to universal common descent.
However, when you research the idea of universal common descent, including its history and philosophy, you learn very quickly that it is inherently atheistic. This is because when you exclude a common designer as a possibility, common descent is the only possible way of explaining genetic and chemical data. Furthermore, the reaction to ideas such as intelligent design demonstrates the atheistic connection better than anything else can.
Gubernatorial Candidate Alan Wilson Makes Campaign Stop in Greenville
- Details
- By Terry M. Thacker

Attorney General Alan Wilson, who has joined a crowded field in the race for the GOP nomination to be the next governor of South Carolina, made a stop at the Stax Original restaurant in Cherrydale this past Friday morning.
Wilson, accompanied by Greenville County Sheriff Hobart Lewis, greeted and shook hands with diners enjoying their sausage, eggs, pancakes and coffee. He then took questions from the media who had gathered to cover his visit.
During his brief remarks, Wilson said that, as governor, he would work to “reform and revolutionize” the education system, including expanding access to technical colleges.
Update on Israel-Iran War

A Short Summary of the 12-Day War - Dated June 29, 2025

On Friday, June 13, Israeli F-35 stealth bombers executed a surprise attack on Iranian nuclear facilities and military sites. Simultaneously, Israeli intelligence agents within Iran assassinated many top military officials and nuclear scientists. About 70 Iranians were killed and another 350 were wounded. Israel has long considered the possibility of Iranian nuclear weapons an existential threat to the survival of Israel. The Radical Islamic leaders of Iran have frequently threatened to annihilate Israel. Their rhetoric, often expressed through organized pro-government demonstrations, has often featured slogans describing both Israel and the United States as satanic enemies of Iran and Islam.

SCOFFERS GONNA SCOFF
By Karen Rene’ Pryer
From the web site: And We Know, Romans 8:28, July 21, 2021
“Scoffers gonna scoff at us—This is no surprise.
When heads are buried in the sand—denial is demise!
Conspiracies are rampant And the truth is hard to find,
But even when you find it, No one backs you from behind.
The world rejected Jesus As the world rejects us now.
The truth is viewed as crazy, And is misconstrued somehow.
But when we stand up to the world And lift our voices high—
The love of Jesus radiates The truth we testify!
When scoffers come a-scoffing—To tell you you’re insane—
Just know your toiling for the truth Will never be in vain!”
The Heat Problem of Young Earth Creation Science
- Details
- By Charles Creager, Jr.
One of the most significant scientific challenges facing Young Earth Creation Science is the “heat problem.” This issue arises when the processes invoked to explain Earth’s geology, astronomy, and past cataclysms, such as a global flood or accelerated radioactive decay, are examined through the lens of thermal physics. The heat problem refers to the enormous, and apparently insurmountable, quantities of heat that would be generated by these processes if compressed into the brief timescales suggested by Young Earth Creation. Here we explore the facets of the heat problem, its implications, and some proposed solutions.
Defining the Heat Problem
The heat problem, sometimes called the “thermal problem” or “excess heat problem,” encompasses several scenarios in which the energy released by proposed young-Earth events would produce catastrophic levels of heat, incompatible with the continued existence of the planet, its biosphere, or even its very structure.
The 3 Most Important Votes of the ‘One Big Beautiful Bill’ Vote-a-Rama

- By Ben Johnson - The Washington Stand

President Donald Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” moved closer to adoption overnight, as Senate Democrats attempted to load the bill with poison pill amendments in the “vote-a-rama.” During the lengthy amendment process, which began at 9 a.m. Monday morning and continues as of this writing, anyone may offer amendments to the 940-page bill. Senate changes have already made the bill less attractive to pro-life, pro-family conservatives. Yet the revised text also removes a controversial, 10-year moratorium on states regulating artificial intelligence.
Christian Government, Christian Law, and Godly Coercion to Save the Lost

God created society to preserve and improve the human race. God created government and law to preserve and improve society. Every person assumes as true some favored concept of or belief about what is good and what is evil, and what is just and unjust; and every society and its government are based on some such prevalent conception or belief.
Because of man's fallen and sinful nature, and his finitude and fallibility of mind, all human governments in this earthly life lie somewhere -- far away from the perfect -- on the spectrum of Godliness to ungodliness, of truth to error, and of good to evil.
Election Fairness and President Trump

Indisputable evidence of election interference and fraud finally led to an official order by President Trump to establish a Federal Prosecutor to formally investigate all aspects of the 2020 and 2022 elections. This segment of ARIZONA TODAY presents some of the evidence and cover up that thwarted any formal actions to determine whether America's sacred privilege by the citizens to elect their officials was sabotaged, and worse! Arizona State Senator Mark Finchem, who came forward in November 2020 to expose the multifaceted election interference in Arizona and then helped to expose similar in six additional states, is my guest for this conversation.
Trump’s Iran Stunner: ‘None of Us Had Any Idea That a Bunch of Bombers Were Already in the Air’

- By Suzanne Bowdey - The Washington Stand

While Democrats (and at least one Republican) will continue to snipe at Donald Trump over whether Saturday’s obliteration of Iran’s nuclear facilities warranted Congress’s approval, one thing that shouldn’t be debated is the overwhelming scale and success of the mission. After months of insisting that he would never let the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism develop a weapon that could wipe out innocent Americans or Israelis, Tehran now knows: this president means what he says. And while it’s been popular to doubt the sincerity of the president’s threats back home, let’s face it — there are no TACO Trump taunts tonight.

Notes and Commentary on a Lecture by Reverend Harry L. Reeder III
On December 10, 2000, I took notes on a lecture on the Biblical Principles of American Government given by Rev. Dr. Harry L. Reeder at Briarwood Presbyterian Church (PCA) in suburban Birmingham, Alabama. On February 12, 2001, I decided to type them out and share them with class I was teaching at Oak Mountain Presbyterian Church (PCA), which was originally a branch (Briarwood South) of Briarwood Presbyterian. I believe the time is especially right to share these principles of American government in an article.
Understanding the Concepts of Evolutionary Biology

- By Charles Creager, Jr.
Evolutionary biology is a branch of biology that studies the origins, changes, and adaptations of living organisms over generations. It is extremely important to have a proper understanding of evolutionary biology in any discussion about biological evolution.
First of all, from a creationist perspective, evolutionary biology is not really an issue despite the label. The simple fact of the matter is that most of the points within evolutionary biology are fully acceptable within creation science and actually explain some things here in the post Flood world.
Wild Hogs & Frogs—Remembering Tom Anderson, Patriot Extraordinaire

- By W.H. Lamb

Ah yes, I remember him well! Tom Anderson, that is. Who, you may ask, was Thomas Jefferson Anderson (1910-2002)? Around fifty-six years ago I attended a meeting of The American Party in Lancaster, S.C. The speaker, Tom Anderson, was a man who had the reputation of being a “straight talker”. That reputation was well earned over his long life of 91 years, and from his birth in Nashville, Tennessee in 1910, including years of serving God and Country, he always strove to honor the spirit of our nation’s Founders. That long-ago talk of his that I attended included two of his favorite stories and although he was not their author, he used both of these stories constantly to hammer home his points that Americans were swiftly losing their freedoms because we were being “conned” into accepting “free stuff” that was leading to the loss of our Constitutional liberties. Let me recount both of those stories for you.
For America to Win the AI Race, Keep Government's Hands Off

At the birth of the internet age in the early 1990s, the U.S. and Europe took opposite approaches to advancing this new economy-changing technology.
Europe tried the approach of industrial policy: They allowed government to regulate, subsidize and then tax the swarm of new tech companies that emerged.
Here in the U.S., Congress and the Clinton administration made a wiser choice. We passed laws that kept internet startups regulation-, tax- and lawsuit-free. It was the Wild West of startup technology companies. A Darwinian race to excellence and survival. Some of the big initial companies like AOL, Netscape and MySpace gave way to superior competitors like Google, Microsoft, Apple, Amazon and Facebook.
Conservative Greenville County Councilmen Fought to Keep Their Campaign Promises

A Lack of Communication and Coalition was Clearly Seen among the Conservative Council Members

Following the recent tax hike approved by the previous Council in 2023, last year’s election led to a shake-up, with three council members being replaced due to the tax hike. During the election, candidates won on campaign promises to reverse some of the tax increases, bring transparency to the budget process, and limit the county administration's spending on what they called out-of-control spending.
They discovered within months how difficult that would be. During an approximately four-hour meeting on June 17, 2025, Greenville County Council officially approved its 2026 fiscal year budget of $488.5 million. Not to mention, the passage followed a contentious month-long process marked by passionate debates and struggles to fulfill campaign promises, ending with a final 8-4 vote (For: Russo, Farmer, Bradley, Blount, Seman, Mithcell, Fant, and Tripp; Against: Long, Shaw, McGahhey, and Collins).
For U.S., Disengagement on Israel-Iran Conflict Would Be Costly
- Details
- By Tony Perkins - The Washington Stand

It is in America’s vital interest to stand with Israel — especially now, as the Middle East undergoes a tectonic shift that may alter the global geopolitical landscape for generations.
I’ve been asked repeatedly how we should interpret these current events, particularly in light of some high-profile voices within so-called conservatism — including influential figures in government — encouraging President Trump to adopt a more isolationist stance. Their message? America should avoid entangling itself in global conflicts.
As a Marine veteran, I’m not an unthinking hawk. I don’t believe America should be the world’s policeman, nor do I support endless foreign wars. But retreating into isolation is not a strategy — it’s a gamble with consequences we cannot afford. A global leadership vacuum will not remain unfilled; it will be occupied by regimes hostile to freedom and democracy. To cede that space is not only naïve — it is dangerously shortsighted.
Chairman’s Corner: Final Vote On A Better Budget For Greenville County
- Details
- By Benton Blount - Chairman of Greenville County Council
Tonight, we’ll take the final vote on the FY2026 Greenville County budget. After months of work, conversations, and compromise, I’m proud to say that I support this budget, not because it’s perfect, but because it’s a significant step in the right direction.
The truth is, there’s no such thing as a perfect budget. With every decision we make, there will always be people on both sides of the issue, some who feel we should spend more, others who think we should spend less. That’s the nature of public service and democracy. But what matters most is whether a budget reflects the values and priorities of the people it’s meant to serve. And in this case, I believe it does.
Background Briefing on Iran

War between Israel and Iran is Underway
World War III in the Making?
On Friday, June 13, Israeli F-35 stealth bombers attacked Iranian nuclear facilities and military sites. Simultaneously, Israeli intelligence agents within Iran assassinated many top military officials and nuclear scientists. About 70 Iranians were killed and another 350 wounded. The purpose of this attack was to prevent Iranian development of nuclear weapons. The radical Islamic leaders of Iran have frequently threatened to annihilate Israel. They consider both Israel and the United States satanic enemies of Iran and Islam. Islamic enmity and exhortation to annihilate Jews is embedded in Islam’s most holy foundational documents—the Quran and the teachings and traditions of Muhammad (Sunna). Hence Iranian development of nuclear weapons has always been an existential threat to Israel. The level to which Iran developed uranium enrichment even for peaceful use has therefore always been an existential concern to Israel. Immediately prior to the attack, Iran was engaged with the U.S. Trump Administration in negotiating limits on uranium enrichment. The degree of nuclear enrichment and immediate intentions of Iran were uncertain during those negotiations. The Israelis totally opposed any Uranium enrichment for Iran.
Freedom Will Never Be Free

As Americans we all should know that the cost of maintaining our freedoms—the liberties for which untold numbers of Americans have given their “last full measure of devotion” to defend--is always high and likely to get even more costly in the years ahead, as the powerful forces of collectivist tyranny clash, verbally and increasingly violently, with the forces of American Patriots determined to RESIST the diabolical agendas of those Marxist/collectivist devils (and their Democrat sycophants and co-conspirators) who are determined that they will prevail over us.
To begin, I’d like to share a touching poem written in 1981 by Kelly Strong:
Only one Interpretation of Genesis 1 is the Biblical Perspective on Origins

There are 10 primary interpretations of Genesis chapter 1, however only one represents a true Biblical perspective on origins. This is because it is the only perspective that starts with the Bible and interprets the chapter based on what it actually says rather than trying to read anything into it. It is also the only one that is fully consistent with the rest of scripture including the rationale of Jesus dying on the cross in payment for our sin.
In this article we will look at all 10 perspectives pointing out the benefits and problems with each of them. We will conclude with pointing out which one is not only the most Biblical, but the only one that can be truly considered to be Biblical in nature,
Congress Should Just Say No to a Remittance Tax
- Details
- By Stephen Moore
The House-passed "big, beautiful" tax bill is a tremendous achievement and a giant sparkplug for growth. The bill extends all the Trump tax cuts of 2017, thus heading off a $4 trillion tax INCREASE next year. It expands health savings accounts, includes expensing of major capital and research expenditures by businesses, allows more money for school choice, and includes "no tax on tips" and no tax on overtime pay. And that's just for starters.
But there were also a few bad tax policy changes. One of the worst is the 3.5% tax on noncommercial "remittances" -- payments typically made by foreigners from U.S. financial institutions to parties outside the United States. Certainly, we need to tighten rules to make sure that money stored in the U.S. does not find its way into the hands of criminal syndicates, drug cartels or other bad actors.

Stanton Public Policy Calls on the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) to Stop Spreading Misinformation About Abortion Pill Reversal
- Details
- By Stanton Public Policy Center
WASHINGTON — Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) is a scientifically supported, evidence-based medical protocol that uses progesterone—the natural hormone that sustains pregnancy. When administered appropriately, APR has successfully helped more than 7,000 women globally carry their pregnancies to term, with no documented harm to mother or child. The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists publicly supports the use of APR.
Stanton has sent a strongly worded letter to ACOG requesting a face-to-face meeting with their leadership. Stanton would bring a delegation of physicians, researchers, APR clients, and public health experts to engage in an open, evidence-based dialogue regarding APR and its role in comprehensive women’s healthcare.
Greenville County GOP Changes Meeting Schedule, Does Not Rule Out Virtual Zoom Meetings

The Greenville County GOP held its first bi-monthly meeting of its new two-year term this past Monday at the Hughes Main Library. After the approval of a resolution on Monday night, however, the party will now meet quarterly rather than bi-monthly.
For decades, the party met on the first Monday of every even month. In the first meeting of the 2021 term, members of the MYSCGOP wing of the party managed to get a resolution passed to require monthly meetings.
Soon after that meeting, the newly elected chair Jennifer Black resigned under pressure. Jeff Davis, the leader of the MYSCGOP wing, was elected chair in her place. During the next two years, on several occasions the meetings were held in the back yard of the party's headquarters building on Wade Hampton Boulevard, the purchase of which had been arranged by Davis. Attendees had to bring their own chairs.

Sixteen Scriptural Passages of Concise Theology

“Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now I am found;
Was blind, but now I see.”
Amazing Grace is undoubtedly the most popular hymn in America and arguably one of the most popular hymns worldwide. It was written in 1772 by John Newton, an ordained Anglican minister in England, who had previously been captain of a British ship involved in the brutal slave trade. Along with British Parliament Member William Wilberforce, he worked to outlaw British slave trading, which was accomplished in 1807, nine months before Newton’s death.
So with the goal of providing a concise Scriptural understanding of salvation by Grace—and Grace Alone—I have chosen 16 Scriptural passages to sharpen our understanding of this enormously important truth.
