BJU Holds Criminal Justice Challenge Coin Ceremony

Bob Jones University hosted the ninth annual Criminal Justice Challenge Coin Ceremony Thursday, May 5, for 2022 graduates of BJU’s criminal justice program. The ceremony was held in Levinson Hall on the BJU campus.
During the ceremony, graduating seniors were presented with a BJU Criminal Justice Challenge Coin. The front of the coin is imprinted with the phrase “Standing Valiantly for Christ” and an emblazoned banner stamped with Romans 3:14. The reverse side bears the name of the University and the BJU crest which symbolizes the heritage and biblical worldview which are foundational to our liberal arts education and character development in preparation for effective service to Christ and the community.

NGU Celebrates Class of 2022 at Spring Commencement

North Greenville University (NGU) celebrated the achievements of 325 graduates as they received their degrees during the university’s Spring Commencement on April 29 in Melvin and Dollie Younts.
During the evening ceremony, NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. conferred 294 candidates for bachelor’s degrees and 31 graduate degrees.
After a welcome by President Fant, Mandie Boyd (’05), chair of the NGU Board of Trustees, led the invocation.
“Let me be the first to congratulate you on behalf of the Board of Trustees of North Greenville University for your graduation today,” Chair Boyd said. “I was where you are 17 years ago. One thing I can promise you is whatever life plan you have for yourself today, it will take a detour. But what I can also promise you is that God is faithful, and he will remain consistent and ready for you to draw close.”

2022 Vintage Dedicated to Betty Fagge and Shirley Canaday

The Bob Jones University yearbook staff announced today the dedication of the 2022 Vintage to longtime staff members, Betty Fagge and Shirley Canaday. These co-dedicatees have assisted BJU executives and other staff for nearly 94 years. They were chosen for their commitment to the University’s mission and its community of students, faculty, staff, retirees and alumni.
Betty Fagge earned this distinction for 49 years of diligent service to BJU. She began as a student worker and continues today as executive assistant to the former university president and current chancellor, Dr. Bob Jones III.
Fagge grew up in North Carolina. While enrolled in BJU’s one-year business program, she worked in the business office and after graduation became full-time assistant to the office manager.

BJU to Hold 41st Annual Nurses Pinning

Bob Jones University will host the 41st annual Nurses Pinning Ceremony Thursday, May 5, for the 2022 graduates of BJU’s nursing program. The ceremony will be held at 2 p.m. in Rodeheaver Auditorium on the BJU campus.
During the ceremony, 31 nursing students will be presented with individual pins featuring a cross, representing the Christian emphasis of the BJU nursing program. The students will carry lamps, modeled after the Florence Nightingale lamp, which they will light during the ceremony while reciting the nurse’s pledge.

More than 65 academic awards were presented to North Greenville University (NGU) students on Wednesday, April 13, during the 2022 Academic Awards Day in Turner Chapel on campus.
After a welcome from Provost and Dean of the University Faculty Dr. Nathan A. Finn, awards were presented for excellence in education, communication and fine arts, humanities and sciences, Christian studies, business and entrepreneurship, honors scholars, scholar-athletes, outstanding freshman, American Legion citizenship, and general excellence.

BJU Communication Students Present at 2022 SSCA Convention

Three graduate students—Erica Connors, Patricia Duarte and Ashlyn Hunt—in the communication studies program at Bob Jones University presented academic papers at the 92nd annual Southern States Communication Association (SSCA) Convention held April 6-10 at the Hyatt Regency Greenville.
Prior to the convention, students from across the region submitted papers for consideration in the SSCA’s competitive, blind review process. Erica Connors ("Culture and Community: Exploring Intercultural Competence through Diversity”); Patricia Duarte (“Knowledge, Mindfulness, and Skill: How People with Transnational Identity Learn to Navigate Workplace Dynamics”) and Ashlyn Hunt (“‘I Just Want to be Green’: Exploring how Third Culture Kids Experience Belonging") presented their research during panel discussions.
