NGU's Glass named Landrum PD Reserve Officer of the Year

North Greenville University (NGU) Director of Adult and Professional Studies for the College of Humanities and Science and Associate Professor of Psychology Dr. Marti Glass was recognized as Reserve Officer of the Year for his outstanding excellence in service to the Landrum Police Department (PD). The award was presented at an awards dinner on Thursday, Feb. 24.
"Officer Glass exemplifies excellence in his service to the Landrum Police Department and the community. He volunteered 236 hours to the department in 2021," said Landrum Police Department Chief of Police Kris Ahler (M.B.A. '13). "His demeanor, attitude, and dedication to duty are exceptional. Officer Glass is a confidant, friend, and beloved colleague for the officers."

BJU Bruins Host 10th Anniversary Gala with Trevor Lawrence

Bob Jones University and the Bruins Athletic Club are hosting the “Bruins Athletic Club 10 Year Anniversary Gala: An Evening with Trevor Lawrence” on Monday, March 28, at 7 p.m. in the Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium on the BJU campus.
A generational talent, Trevor Lawrence was the first pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and most anticipated NFL player in decades. His collegiate tenure was highlighted by three consecutive ACC Championships, two undefeated regular seasons and a National Championship title in 2018, where he was also named Offensive MVP. A leader in every sense of the word, Lawrence has claimed his space in Clemson’s record books finishing third on the school’s all-time leading passer list and tied for second on the all-time touchdown passes list.

BJU to Host Faculty Forum on Russia-Ukraine War

Dr. Gary Weier, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Bob Jones University, today announced a Faculty Forum on the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The forum will be held Thursday, March 3, from 7 - 8:30 p.m. in Stratton Hall on the BJU campus.
“The recent invasion of Ukraine has dominated the news. Many are concerned but struggling to sort through the barrage of information and misinformation. Additionally, those in the BJU community who have family in or ties to the region are understandably troubled about the implications for their loved ones and their ability to return to their homeland,” said Weier. “The goal of the forum is to educate and inform. Our BJU faculty panelists bring a wealth of subject matter expertise to this complex situation which has serious geopolitical ramifications. They will provide a framework for processing the conflict as well as have a civil and interactive dialogue.”

BJU Presents Samson et Dalila

The Bob Jones University Opera Association will present Samson et Dalila by Camille Saint-Saëns on March 8, 10, and 12 at 7:30 p.m. in Rodeheaver Auditorium.
The dramatic opera, which debuted in 1877, portrays the biblical account of Samson as he turns his eyes from the God of the Hebrews to the worldly pleasures of the oppressive Philistines and the deceptive ploys of the temptress Dalila.

BJU Graphic Design Students Win AAF Awards

Several Bob Jones University graphic design students received awards from the American Advertising Federation (AAF) Greenville chapter at the annual AAF Gala Saturday, Feb. 19.
The American Advertising Awards, a three-tiered national competition conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation, is the industry’s largest and most representative competition for both professional and student creative excellence.

Tim Goeglein, vice president of external and government relations for Focus on the Family, will deliver the keynote address, “Faith in the Halls of Power: How the Millennial Generation Might Think about Faith and the Public Square” at the Bob Jones University Presidential Leadership Series Tuesday, March 1, at 7 p.m. in the Founder’s Memorial Amphitorium on the BJU campus.
“As a Christian liberal arts university, our goal is to bring in speakers who will educate and inspire our students and the Greenville community,” BJU President Steve Pettit. “Tim’s extensive resume includes various roles in Washington, D.C., both in the White House and in the nonprofit sector. We look forward to his insights and analysis.”

Dr. Cheryl Abrams Collier, North Greenville University associate dean of the School of Humanities and Social Science, is named the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit representative to the South Carolina State Board of Education.
"Dr. Collier is a gifted educator and academic leader who is deeply respected by her colleagues. I'm excited for her opportunity to serve on the state Board of Education," said NGU Provost and Dean of the University Faculty Dr. Nathan A. Finn. "She will bring considerable wisdom to this assignment, as well as be an excellent representative of North Greenville University."
