State Agency Surpluses Total $4 Billion to Start Fiscal '24
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
When fiscal 2022-23 ended on June 30, the state’s general fund had a balance of less than $58 million – a relatively paltry amount compared to the $1.2 billion surplus reported a year earlier.
But that doesn’t mean state government in South Carolina is poor. Far from it, in fact.
State agencies collectively carried over $4 billion in general funds into this fiscal year, which began July 1, ranging from $248 carried forward by the S.C. Secretary of State’s Office to more than $1.5 billion transferred by the S.C. Department of Commerce, according to the state comptroller general’s annual financial summary of the general fund – one of three main pots of money in the current $41 billion total state budget.
Our Sad Departure From Dr. King's 'Dream'
- By Star Parker
This past week, the nation noted the 60th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous "I Have a Dream" speech.
The speech is without question a historic landmark, both in terms of recalling the unique stress of the time and in terms of King's eloquence in capturing the situation.
But beyond being interesting, why do we bother at all with history?
America’s International Influence Wanes as Communist Nations Craft Partnerships
- By K.D. Hastings - The Washington Stand
Economic weakness and radical policies are pushing nations away from the U.S. and into the arms of China and Russia, a well-known business school head stated Friday.
“The U.S. is clearly losing our authority on the world stage,” former Congressman Dave Brat said on August 25’s “Washington Watch with Tony Perkins.” Brat is dean of the Liberty University School of Business.
He noted that BRICS, a bloc of nations that already included China, Brazil, Russia, India, and South Africa, announced Thursday the group was adding Saudi Arabia, Iran, Ethiopia, Egypt, Argentina, and the United Arab Emirates as members in a concerted effort to overturn what has been a world order dominated by U.S. interests since the mid-20th century.
Failing Schools Frustrate Everyone
- By Anne Schlafly
I once hired a young lady who was in the 11th grade, but once on the job she had multiple problems following directions. I finally realized that she could not read, so I contacted the principal of her high school to get this student help. The principal's answer shocked me: "I know that she cannot read." Yet, this student had been promoted every year to the next grade level despite her school knowing full well that she could not read and thus was unable to learn at a high school level or to perform the tasks of an entry-level job. This school did the student a disservice and was not preparing her for life. For the school, it is easier to promote the slow student every year than it is for the educators to solve the problem.

Christian Perseverance and Southern Victory after Appomattox
- By Winston McCuen - South Carolina
Outsiders travelling through the South often remark on the large number of churches here compared with other parts of America. Billboards with Christian messaging about sin and repentance and Jesus and salvation greet passers-through on major interstates, cheering some and vexing others -- attracting or repelling thereby -- according to the viewer's spiritual condition.
While the modern, more industrial and commercial, 21st-Century South is certainly far more lax in its faith, and far less Southern, than in former times, its comparative faithfulness, as a region among regions, is beyond dispute.
The South's persisting power to cheer and attract, and to vex and repel, is evidence of its persisting cultural life and identity, rooted in older and truer Christian practice. And this persisting power raises two questions for the Providentially minded.
Statistical Versus Complex Specific Information
- By Charles Creager, Jr.
In talking about whether or not genetic information suggests an intelligent designer, Evolutionists will often refer to the paper on information theory by Claude Shannon called “A Mathematical Theory of Communication”. They use it primarily to attack the idea that random mutations reduce genetic information. However, it turns out that they are confusing statistical information with complex specific information.
Shannon’s paper with a mathematical description of the transmission and storage of information. It does not deal with information content. In other words, his paper deals exclusively with statistical information which may or may not have any meaning. Complex specific information on the other hand has specific meaning and is only known to be the result directly or indirectly of intelligence.
On Liberty and A Well-Regulated Militia
- By Robert W. Malone MD, MS
Freedom Must be Fought For and Defended.
“Perhaps you and I have lived too long with this miracle to properly be appreciative. Freedom is a fragile thing and it’s never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation. For it only comes once to a people, and those in history who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.” - Ronald Reagan 1967
I am afraid for our freedom, for our liberties. Each day we see the encroaching totalitarian forces working to impede what we consider the “American Way of Life”. These forces are easing their way through the back door of socialism.
Sen. Tuberville’s Military Nominee Blockade Has Uncovered More “Woke” Generals

Tuberville Exposes “Woke” Generals
Senator Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) has been the courageous leader to stop the Biden Administration from pushing its pro-abortion agenda in the military. In a recent statement, Sen. Tuberville explained:
I warned the Pentagon that I would hold their most senior nominees if they broke the law. They did it anyway, and forced my hand. Since then, Chuck Schumer and the Biden Administration have refused any serious negotiations, and so this situation has dragged on.
For almost nine months, Sen. Tuberville has blocked the confirmation without votes of 300 military promotions because the Secretary of Defense unilaterally implemented a Pentagon policy to reimburse military service members and their families for travel to obtain abortion care. As this situation stretches on, we are finding that the abortion issue is just the tip of the iceberg.
How to Find a Non-WOKE Church When Your Church Goes WOKE?
- By Every Black Life Matters
DALLAS -- New Website Announcement: Every Black Life Matters (EBLM) endorses MyChurchFinder.org because it reduces the proliferation of wokeism and false gospels.
"Wokeism" and Marxism are antithetical to the Gospel.
The intersection of faith and culture is a subject of intense debate. As a result of the corrosive pressures of "wokeism," we've seen pastors make woke declarations about Jesus and the Gospel as they dramatically pivot toward cultural "syncretism." They are compromising the purity of the Gospel to "harmonize" with the ever-changing whims of a demonic worldly culture. Syncretism is a dangerous trend that corrupts the Gospel, and with this happening in churches, it's no wonder why many are now questioning their faith to the point of "deconstructing" their faith.
Important Legislative Update for South Carolina
- By The John Birch Society
We would like to update you about the outcome of several important bills in the South Carolina General Assembly.
Article V Convention
We are monitoring several resolutions for an Article V constitutional convention, which would open up the U.S. Constitution to radical revisions that could obliterate the God-given freedoms that it guarantees.
Senate Concurrent Resolution 369 (S.369) and House Concurrent Resolution 3676 (H.3676) would apply to Congress for a convention to propose a so-called “Balanced Budget Amendment.” Additionally, Senate Concurrent Resolution 481 (S.481) and House Concurrent Resolution 3895 (H.3895) would apply to Congress for a convention to propose a congressional term-limits amendment.

China's Economy Is Struggling. Still Want to Emulate it?
- By Veronique de Rugy
China's economy is struggling post-COVID-19. Growth is slower than expected, demographic trends are negative, youth unemployment is high, overbuilding has created a housing crisis and government indebtedness is ballooning. These are only a few of the symptoms ailing the country, and things could get worse. Did any of the Americans who not long ago wanted to implement some of China's top-down economic policies see this coming? Of course not. We've seen these pessimists make similar mistakes before.

Over 1,000 School Districts Hiding Students’ Gender Identities from Parents
- By S.A. McCarthy - The Washington Stand
A new report is sounding the alarm on the growing number of schools embracing transgender ideology and keeping parents in the dark. According to Parents Defending Education, at least 1,040 U.S. school districts have adopted policies instructing or encouraging faculty and staff to keep students’ gender identities a secret from parents. Those districts include over 18,000 schools responsible for nearly 11 million students. The vast majority of those school districts (593) are in California.

36 Medal of Honor Winners from 1861 to 2020
Several years ago, I was invited to give a presentation on my book on the Civil War—The Un-Civil War: Shattering the Historical Myths, published in 2011—to a group of the Sons of Confederate Veterans in Pickens, South Carolina. Pickens is a small town of about 3,400 population, but it is the county seat of Pickens County. Pickens County has a modest population of 131,000, and its largest town, Easley, has a modest but prosperous population of 23,000. As I walked into the public building where the meeting was to be held, I was astonished to see the photos of four Pickens County men who had been awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor:
Civilization’s Interregnum - Part 2

The Dissolution Of The Old United States Of America

(A continuation of a lecture by a fictional “history professor” to a class of young adults, sometime in the 32nd Century).
THE BREAKUP OF THE OLD UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AIDED BY MILITARY FORCES OF THE “CHIN” EMPIRE.
“In our last class we discussed the beginnings of the dissolution of the country once known as ‘The United States of America’, starting with its Civil War that began, as far as we can determine, around the year 2030 A.D., a war that was fomented by what I referred to as ‘militia groups’ and ‘frustrated military commanders’ who considered themselves loyal to the “We The People” constitution that had governed that nation for at least a quarter of a millennia, as near as can be determined from the scant historical records that survived the Nationality Wars and the Dark Time, events that we believe ended the Christian civilization of that time, between 500 to 600 years ago.
Cancel Culture: Governor Using Stealth to Try to Put Through Red Flag Gun Confiscation
- By Kathleen Marquardt - American Policy Center
My dear friend, Lucinda Sheth, who is politically active, but not a radical in any sense, has addressed the recent Tennessee issue of a “Special Session to push for an Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO)”, better known as Red Flag Law. 1, 2 This session was called by Governor Lee because his ERPO was shot down during the normal Legislature session. This is another sneaky way our governments (local, state, and federal) are making laws without going through the proper channels. Ms. Sheth is right on for calling him out.
House Freedom Caucus Demands Government Spending Restraints
- By Eagle Forum
Appropriate Demands for Appropriations
All has been quiet in the halls of Congress since Members returned home for August recess. This time is officially called a District Work period and there are still conversations happening with the media and with each other on the upcoming agenda. One particular issue that is time-sensitive and very much in the spotlight is the appropriations process – the annual ritual in which Congress must hammer out just how much of your money the federal government will spend over the upcoming year. Once back in Washington, D.C., the House and Senate will have twelve days to pass twelve appropriations bills or face a government shutdown.

COVID is On the Rise Again: Here’s Why You Shouldn’t Panic
- By Yusuf JP Saleeby MD & Dr. Keith Berkowitz - The FLCCC Alliance Community
A new COVID variant is gaining ground in the United States. You’ve probably been hearing about it in the news, and we’ve certainly been seeing it in our patients in recent weeks. Here’s what you need to know about it, how to protect yourself, and how to treat it if you do get sick.
First of all, DO NOT PANIC.
EG.5 — also known as the "Eris" variant — certainly seems to be highly contagious, but from what we’re seeing it is less virulent. In other words, it’s a lot like the Omicron variants we’ve seen recently — lots of cases, but not a lot of extreme illness or hospitalization.
If you’ve been exposed to the virus before, you likely have some natural ability to fight it off. We are finding that patients who have not been previously exposed are the ones hit hardest right now.
Could Mask Mandates and COVID Hysteria be Making a Comeback?
- By Peter LaBarbera - WND
'I will never comply with any new mandates, lockdowns and will not be wearing that stupid mask'
With new COVID variants, including BA.2.86 and EG.5, in the news, the same media and activists on the Left who were most fanatical about masks and other heavy-handed COVID policies during the pandemic are now pushing mask mandates again.
Conservatives warned it could be a precursor to a return to oppression in the name of fighting COVID, and vowed collectively not to "comply."
'I Have a Dream' Turns 60
- By Alveda King
Monday, August 28, 2023 marks the 60th anniversary of the March on Washington, where over a quarter million people gathered and heard my Uncle Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. - fondly remembered by yours truly as "Uncle M. L." - deliver his famous "I Have a Dream Speech."
"It is a dream deeply rooted in the American dream. I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." Martin Luther King, Jr. August 28, 1968
Politicians Make a Mockery Out of 'Emergency' Spending
- By Veronique de Rugy
Remember how, mere months ago, the debt-ceiling deal struck between Democrats and Republicans to avoid a government shutdown was touted as "an historic first step toward shifting government back toward common sense and conservatism?" The hope was that the spending caps in the deal would actually constrain spending. Well, it took less than two months for politicians to start evading the caps with an old trick: emergency spending.
Roommates for Life - NGU Freshmen Continue Legacy
- By Billy Cannada - NGU

Twenty-six years after moving into their Horton-Tingle dorm on North Greenville University’s (NGU) Tigerville campus, Sallie Kinard (’01) and Jennifer Padgett (’00) were back in the same room where they’d spent four years together.
Only this time, they were there to drop off their daughters, Riley Belle and Mattie.
“Walking through the dorm with the girls was really cool,” Sallie said. “It just takes you back. You’re re-living those moments, which were some of the best moments of my life.”
Friends since high school, Jennifer and Sallie decided to attend college together in 1997.
