Lawmakers Asked to Intercede in REWA Construction Procurement

Weak S. C. Laws Permit Unethical Procurement Practices
Edward Paxton, an engineer familiar with various procurement practices and as a concerned citizen has been attending Western Carolina Regional Sewer Authority (REWA) board meetings, appeared before the Greenville County Legislative Delegation, Monday night at Greenville County Square, and requested that Lawmakers intercede in procurement of construction services for a $35 million REWA Piedmont Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Nikki Haley, Trey Gowdy Exceed Own Expectations
No one predicted that six-term Congressman Bob Inglis after spending gobs of money on television and radio ads, knocking on hundreds of doors and holding dozens of discussion meets, would only be able to scrape up 29 percent of the vote in the district he once “owned.” Inglis only won 3 precincts in Greenville County and none in either Spartanburg or Union County.

Inglis Attacks, Gowdy Strikes Back
The last meeting before vote in the primary runoff election between Bob Inglis and Trey Gowdy took place Monday morning at the Poinsett Club. The event was sponsored by the Upstate Republican Women’s Club.
Deb Sofield was moderator of the event and maintained control over questions and time allowed for answers.
Congressman Inglis, showing signs of stress from his toughest race yet for the congressional seat, was constantly on the attack. He lashed out at Gowdy campaign aide Dan Hoover, accusing Hoover of accusing him of lying.

Constitution Party Nominates Candidates

The Constitution Party of South Carolina held their State Convention, Saturday, May 15, 2010, at the Embassy Suites Hotel in Greenville. The State Convention was to nominate Constitution Party candidates for the general election to be held in November. SC State Chairman Ted Adams presided, and Convention President John Langville conducted the election of state officers.
Dr. Tom Kendall introduced Constitution Party nominee for the 4th Congressional District, Dave Edwards, who is a real estate broker in Greenville. Dave believes that it is a citizen’s duty to stand up for the rights and principles of Constitutional government that our founders secured for us. Republican Senators Allow Democrats to Kill Voter ID Bill

Senators Leatherman, Knotts, O’Dell and Rankin Identified as Culprits
Legislation requiring voters to prove who they are when they vote by presenting identification failed to pass the South Carolina Senate last week. The legislation required identification by a South Carolina drivers license, South Carolina official identification card, a U. S. Passport, a U. S. Government identification or a voter identification card with a photo ID in order to vote in South Carolina.
Passage of the bill to close a clear loophole in the current law that allows voter fraud and abuse was the top priority for the South Carolina Republican Party this year.

Allegations that “Harry Doesn’t Live Here Anymore” a Factor in Outcome
Harry Cato has represented Northern Greenville County in the South Carolina House for two decades. During those years he has never had a serious challenge – until this year.
Two challengers, Nathan Earle and Tom Corbin filed to challenge Cato in the Republican Primary. Corbin got more than enough votes to take the victory outright and replace Cato as the Republican candidate.
