SALTY SEZ – Vacant Pews
- By Ray Simmons
Some of us may remember Dr. Francis A. Schaeffer publishing a book titled “A Christian Manifesto” around 1982, perhaps to point out the great differences between Christianity and Humanism as presented in the Humanist Manifesto. He literally began by pointing out many of the problems he had observed in the western-culture’s churches. An early comment was “Christians, in the last 80 years or so, have only been seeing things as bits and pieces which have gradually begun to trouble them … he goes on to say we are missing the whole thing if we do not recognize these bits and pieces as a shift taking us from a Judeo-Christian World View to a Humanistic World View. He continues by defining Humanism as; “the man is the measure of all things.” (Sounds much like the culture we find in America today.)
Goodbye to My Brother -- for Now
- By David Limbaugh
Losing Rush has been tough. Until a few very long weeks ago, he was always in my life. Like other siblings growing up in the same home, we shared experiences that were exclusive to us. Our parents instilled in us -- and we thoroughly absorbed -- their Christian values: their love of God; their unconditional love for each other and for us; their belief in moral absolutes, of truth, of right and wrong; the paramount importance of family; the critical necessity of personal character and integrity; the value of human life; and the uncompromising duty to treat others with respect and compassion. No one perfectly succeeds in living out these godly values, but our parents equipped us, lovingly disciplined us and guided us.
Vaccine Patriotism vs. Vaccine Globalism
- By Pat Buchanan
When the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines first proved their efficacy, preventing nearly 95% of coronavirus infections in those who got the shots in test trails, a vexing issue immediately arose.
Who should get priority in receiving these life-saving shots?
Generally speaking, the answer, while differing slightly from state to state, was that those most vulnerable to the virus, and those most vital to battling it, should be inoculated first.
What Happened to Biden's Unity Agenda?
- By Neil Patel
Less than three months ago, President Joe Biden stood in front of the U.S. Capitol in the wake of the Jan. 6 riots and delivered his inaugural address. He called for unity, and Americans who see a politically fractured country welcomed it. He could have then put together an agenda that would have accomplished many of his goals while also helping heal the country. On COVID-19, infrastructure and other matters, there was a road to garnering massive bipartisan support. We focus a lot on disagreements, but in each of these areas, average citizens share a broad consensus that Biden could have reached.
No Wall = Free Pass
- By Eagle Forum
For four years, President Donald Trump used every tactic he could to stop the massive amounts of immigrants flooding into the United States. He instituted policies that ended chain migration, funded border wall construction, banned entries from terrorist-sponsored countries, and forced Mexico to be responsible for immigrants traveling across their country. When Democrats used the Obama-created family separation at the border policy as a smear campaign against the Trump administration, President Trump led efforts allowing families to stay together. Now, President Biden has reversed the successful policies that Trump created and — surprise, surprise! — has a crisis on his hands.

- By Stanton Public Policy Center

McMaster Receives Gifts Totaling Tens of Thousands of Dollars
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
Over the past four years as South Carolina’s governor, Henry McMaster received a total of more than $87,000 in gifts, The Nerve found in a review of his annual income-disclosure reports.
Of the $87,695 in freebies, $24,679, or 28%, came from the Washington, D.C.-based Republican Governors Association (RGA), mainly for flights, hotel accommodations and meals, according to McMaster’ annual statements of economic interests (SEIs) filed with the State Ethics Commission.
Coke Gets a Kick in the Can from Consumers
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
A week into the fiasco over Georgia's election law, most Americans want to know: just who are these woke CEOs listening to? Not to their shareholders, who can't make a profit when their companies alienate half of the country. Not to lawyers or legislators, who could set them straight on what the policy actually does. And certainly not to U.S. consumers, who are sending a resounding message that they're done with businesses who can't check their radicalism at the door long enough to read a 98-page piece of legislation.
Open Letter to MLB Commissioner from Catholic League President, Bill Donohue
- By Bill Donohue - Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights
Dear Commissioner Manfred:
As president of the nation's largest Catholic civil rights organization, I would like to commend you for your new-found interest in policing human rights in the United States. While your objections to the voting reform law in Georgia are baseless, let's assume nonetheless that you have a genuine interest in alleged violations of human rights.
However, if that is the case, why did MLB just renew its contract with Tencent, the Chinese company with close ties to the Communist Party?

CANCELING Cancel Culture
- By Selwyn Duke - The New American
The Left’s strategy in its political war is to win the culture war — by belittling opposing viewpoints and personages to the point of removing economic opportunity and displacing them.
In 212 B.C., 460 scholars were “canceled,” permanently, when Emperor Qin Shi Huang had them buried alive for owning forbidden books. The Qin, who’d united China, made the argument, “We don’t want to hear people criticize the present by referring to the past,” Harvard University Chinese history professor Peter Bol told the BBC in 2012. “The past is irrelevant. History is irrelevant. And so you have the burning of books, you have the burying of scholars, of scholarly critics.”
Silicon Valley's Smuggling Apps
- By Michelle Malkin
The mainstream media is slowly catching on to the "Open Borders, Inc." racket. Just this week, NBC News reported that smugglers are using Facebook to advertise their services in violation of Facebook's policy ban on human exploitation and trafficking. The news network appears shocked, shocked, shocked that coordinated illegal activity is booming on Facebook -- one of the world's biggest and most influential globalist platforms.
MLB Can't Lay a Glove on Georgia
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
If the Left wanted to make an example out of Georgia, they succeeded -- just not the way they intended. Five days into the Democrats' election law hysteria, Governor Brian Kemp's (R-Ga.) grit is winning the messaging war and inspiring millions of incensed Americans to start fighting right along with him. After months of conditioning corporations to do their radical bidding, Joe Biden, Stacey Abrams, and their co-conspiring CEOs have finally overplayed their hand. The pack of lies they tried to pass off about Georgia's voting reforms is coming back to bite them. And the blowback for baseball is just the beginning.
A Message to Delta CEO Bastian From a Delta Diamond Flyer
- By Star Parker
The controversy surrounding the new voting law in the state of Georgia raises important issues regarding the governance of our country and the role of corporations.
Corporations are big and have a lot of economic clout, so there is justified concern about them abusing this economic power.
It's why there are such strict lobbying laws in Washington. We want to make sure that corporations don't step over the line of representing their legitimate interests in legitimate ways.
Stop the Anti-Religious Freedom “Equality Act”
- By The John Birch Society
On February 25, 2021, the House voted to pass H.R. 5, the Equality Act, which is an unconstitutional bill that would severely limit religious freedom in favor of the radical LGBTQ agenda.
The bill is now moving to the Senate, where Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has already bypassed the committee process and moved the bill straight to the floor.
If passed, H.R. 5 would add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the lists of protected categories in existing federal anti-discrimination laws, which themselves are unconstitutional violations of the 10th Amendment. This would affect business owners with religious convictions and any organization that receives any type of federal financial assistance.

Wade Hampton III: The Winds of War - Part IV
- By Bob Dill - Publisher of The Times Examiner
The election of Abraham Lincoln President of the United States in 1860, in the minds of most South Carolinians, meant war against the South in the near future was certain.
No one wanted to avoid war more than Wade Hampton III, who had become one of the more successful planters in the region.
By that time, probably to please his father, Wade had entered politics. He had been elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives and after one two-year term had made a successful run for the State Senate.
Anti-Racism as False Religion
- By Mike Scruggs
The Legacy of Abolitionist
I am not in favor of racism or slavery. Both have social and personal consequences that erode the moral, economic, social, and civic order of nations and peoples. Yet I am appalled at the enormous evil that can be propagated by the human tendency to unforgiving, self-righteous virtue-signaling regarding slavery and racism. Historical ignorance and political distortions of history have contributed to compounding and expanding intolerance, misunderstanding, and fanatical hatred disguised as high virtue. The slavery issues surrounding the Civil War are now barely understood and often distorted. Moreover, the definitions and understanding of racism have been wildly inflated for the purposes of social and political manipulation. The atmosphere of overbearing political correctness and “cancel culture” is darkening our discernment and strangling our abilities for critical thinking and honest expression. Cancel culture is really unforgiveness culture, even a quasi-religious fanatical hate culture.
During the Civil War era, the term “abolitionist” was usually reserved for those who demanded the immediate end of slavery no matter what the consequences to slave-owners, slaves, and economic and civil order. They had a richly deserved reputation for fanaticism. The far more numerous advocates of eventual freedom for all slaves believed the slaves needed some preparation for independence, slave-owners deserved some compensation for the change in laws, and patient and peaceful means should be used to accomplish this. These often called themselves “emancipationists.” They were quite numerous in the both the North and South, one of which was Robert E. Lee.
The Conservative States of America?
- By Frank Raddish - Founder/Director Capitol Hill Independent Baptist Ministries
Where is the Republican leadership in Congress that is needed to combat the Democrats’ destructive Marxist blueprint for America? We are hearing sparks of resistance from the political over-the-hill gang of Senate Minority Leader Mitchell McConnell and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, but what we need to see is flames of opposition against the Marxist political insurrection to destroy our Constitution and to topple our Republic. The Republicans need to stop playing “Mr. Nice Guy” and start waging political trench warfare to stop the Democrats’ unpatriotic war against America. In other words, Republicans need to stop dancing the Washington Watusi with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and get some old-fashion backbone!
Conservatives, Liberals & Patriotism: A Retrospective Appraisal
- By W.H. Lamb
(Based on an Article by the Author in The Times Examiner October 10, 2001)
Almost twenty years ago, The Times Examiner published my article under the same title (without the “retrospective” portion). As part of my usual research, I came across this old writing and was intrigued by it. How much of what I wrote then, I wondered, had changed, and how much had stayed the same? I’m going to use my original words (emboldened in ‘black’), with any new thoughts printed in the normal shade of black). Let’s see what, if anything, has changed over those intervening years.
Fans Intentionally Walk after Baseball's Activism
- By Tony Perkins - Family Research Council
The 2021 baseball season isn't even a week old, and it's already over for some fans. Why? Because, as Andrew McCarthy so efficiently put it: the Left ruins everything. Sports, entertainment, toys, snack cakes, you name it. Their wokeness is a cancer, and it's taking every enjoyable, unifying, non-political piece of American life and destroying it. In Georgia, their crusade against the state's election law is built on a house of lies. And for once, GOP leaders aren't letting them get away with it.
For What Should We Fight Russia or China?
- By Pat Buchanan
Last Monday, in a single six-hour period, NATO launched 10 air intercepts to shadow six separate groups of Russian bombers and fighters over the Arctic, North Atlantic, North Sea, Black Sea and Baltic Sea.
Last week also brought reports that Moscow is increasing its troop presence in Crimea and along its borders with Ukraine.
Joe Biden responded. In his first conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Biden assured him of our "unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of Russia's ongoing aggression in the Donbass and Crimea."
Biden's Border Crisis Solved
- By Eagle Forum
There’s a mess at the border. In March, it was reported that border crossings reached a fifteen-year high! From lost migrant teenagers to saddening reports of deaths from drownings in the Rio Grande, it’s clear something must be done to alleviate the burden on border patrol.
