Craft Day at Washington Center

Washington Center’s Craft Day was a huge success. Families and friends attended the annual event to purchase student-made treasures ranging from food to jewelry. Cakewalks, musical fun, bubbles and treats added to the festivities. Christ Church and Legacy Early College volunteers assisted Washington Center students with shopping and sales. Proceeds will fund classroom projects, activities and trips.
Myrtle Beach Tea Party Holds 2018 Convention

The Myrtle Beach Tea Party’s 2018 convention was held on January 20-22, with national issues discussed on the weekend and S.C. issues on Monday. The convention was put on by Joe Dugan, Founder and Executive Producer of the Convention; Gerri McDaniel, South Carolina State Director for the Donald Trump Campaign; and numerous volunteers. The event was held at the Crown Reef Resort which offered a great venue for the conference against the backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean.
The conference was emceed by Donna Fiducia, former Fox News anchor, and her husband Don Neuen, who now producestheir Cowboy Logic Radio show (cowboylogic.us). They did an excellent job and helped make the conference a huge success. There was such an incredible lineup of speakers that it is impossible to do justice to the conference by writing an article, which couldn’t possibly cover all the material presented. Fortunately, Joe Dugan had the conference professionally videotaped and streamed live over the Internet, and now posted and archived on their Youtube channel. It was said that President Trump was watching some of it live. Status of Personhood in the State of South Carolina

The Personhood Bill of South Carolina S217 is important because the primary reason for civil government’s existence is to protect life. Therefore, Civil Government cannot fulfill its obligation to society without a proper explanation of what “life” is and what makes a “living being” a “person.” A “person” simply defined from multiple sources is: “a human, a human being, a living human, a man or woman or child, an individual – a natural person, a human being as distinguished from an animal or thing.” One thesaurus included “living soul” as a synonym. These references include law and medical definitions. A child, whatever its state of development, is human. Being human is what gives it the designation of being a person. Darwin, in his infinite wisdom had described a fertilized egg as being as complex as an inked period at the conclusion of a sentence. Carl Sagan reminded us of that in an article in Parade Magazine many years ago... We know that conception produces something far more magnificent than that.
The GHS Hospital Bond “Deal” Resolution

For this discussion, please see the SC JEDA/Greenville County Notice of public hearing for the potential GHS/Palmetto $1.5 billion bond issuance by SC JEDA, a SC government entity, (https://drive.google.com/file/d/19RCyo9VdN86UNEQfRhaEzgJXFLA5IkNY/view). Basically, ~$630 million in Greenville Health System debt will be combined with ~$870 million in Palmetto Health System Debt. GHS revenue is approaching ~$2.5 Billion while Palmetto revenue is only ~$1.7 Billion, yet Palmetto’s debt is far higher than GHS’s which means it’s more risky (some of Palmetto’s debt is also tied to a $72 million Medicare fraud conviction). Higher risks equals higher costs due to possible future default. This will eventually cost hard-working Greenville County healthcare consumers more money. This bond issuance is not in the best interest of Greenville County citizens. It increases the default risk of our healthcare system in the upstate and the bond amalgamation/refinance does not save or create any jobs as required by SC JEDA.

Ancient Lessons for Today’s Politics
Asa became king of Judah about 911 BC. The fourteenth chapter of Second Chronicles records that he did what was good and right in the eyes of the Lord his God. During the early years of his 41-year reign, he removed the pagan influences in Judah, and God gave Judah ten years of peace. Asa attributed this peace to the Lord’s blessing but also realized his duty as king included assuring, as best he could, the safety and security of his people. He also saw that Judah was surrounded by potentially threatening pagan enemies, and built fortified cities. He built up a well-trained reserve army of 300,000 from Judah and 280,000 from the tribe of Benjamin, armed and trained with spears, shields, and bows. Scripture says of them that they were “mighty men of valor.”

Former Army Ranger Bobby Cox announced his candidacy for the SC House District 21 seat Friday at the Runway Cafe after he and two others parachuted to the Greenville Downtown Airport. Cox was interviewed on Fox and Friends Weekend on Sunday, Nov. 12th.
Bobby Cox is a Businessman, Combat Veteran, Citadel Graduate, and Conservative Republican. He was born and raised in the Upstate and now resides in Greer, SC. He graduated from Travelers Rest High School and went to The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, to test his desire for service in the military. While at The Citadel, Bobby became the Regimental Commander of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets; the cadet in charge over the college. He was a Summerall Guard and was awarded the Palmetto Award for exceptional service that reflects great credit upon The Citadel.

We Must Remember What They Did

I watched part of a Veterans Day program hosted by Michael Reagan, the adopted son of President Reagan. In the program, President Reagan was speaking at the site of the D-Day Invasion. He said something to the effect that “If we forget what we did, we will never know who we are.”
I sense that a large number of our fellow citizens of the United States are totally ignorant of what their ancestors did to earn their freedom and have no appreciation for their ancestors or the freedom they enjoy.
Many of the professors who taught the current crop of young teachers were Anti-Vietnam War, draft dodgers and have a slanted view of American history and the role of the military and their sacrifices in preserving our freedom. The task of educating future generations of American students falls on veterans. If they don’t tell the story, sadly, it will not be told.

Will Deep State Policies Surrender America?
October 31 marked another deadly terrorist attack that TV pundits and liberal politicians and officials insisted could have nothing to do with Islam and denied had any connection with foolish and corrupt immigration policies. Yet 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipov, a 2010 immigrant from the Radical Islamist hotbed of Uzbekistan blessed the rent-a-truck vehicular murder of eight pedestrians and the serious injury of 11 others with “Alahu akbar,” the usual Islamic terrorist benediction. He was also carrying an Islamist flag, which he has asked to have displayed in his hospital room. He is reported to be proud of his murderous Jihadic accomplishment. One liberal journalist erroneously noted that “Alahu akbar” simply means “God is great.” But this popular translation by Islamic apologists is badly in error on two counts. “Allahu akbar” means “Allah is greater” than all other gods, including and usually specifically the God of Judeo-Christian Scripture. Allahu akbar is a triumphant declaration of Islamic Supremacy, a central doctrine of Islam, proclaiming the superiority of Islam over all other religions and belief systems which will no longer be tolerated with the final victory of Islam. Although “allah” is an Arabic word for “god,” Allah is by no means the same as the Judeo-Christian God of Scripture. I leave it to the reader to review and compare the teachings of Judeo-Christian Scripture with the Koran and the teachings and example of Islam’s Supreme Prophet, Muhammad.

Gun-Free Zones Invite Murder

The murder and wounding of most of the congregation of a small rural Baptist Church in South Texas provides a wake-up call for churches, schools and businesses that consider themselves gun-free areas.
Killers look for “soft targets.” Gun-free areas are the safest most desirable targets for killers who do not want to be on an equal footing with their intended victims. They are wanting to have an advantage that gives them an opportunity to do as much damage as possible without being interrupted.

We celebrate Veterans Day every year, in tribute to Veterans past and present. It’s a chance to salute those who, in Mr. Lincoln’s timeless words, are willing to give, “The last full measure of devotion.” To be clear; it’s devotion to you, to this country and to our way of life. In 2010, then Lt. General John Kelly gave a speech at the Semper Fi society in St. Louis. He did so a few days after his own Marine son was killed in Afghanistan. Kelly currently serves as Chief of Staff for President Donald Trump. In his speech, Kelly described the circumstances of a 2008 suicide bombing in Iraq that claimed the lives of Marine Cpl. Jonathan Yale and Lance Cpl. Jordan Haerter. Kelly put both Marines in for a Navy Cross. As recounted in the WSJ, this is the story:
Remembering Steve Zietz

Born in Saginaw, MI, he was a son of Margaret Lucille Boorojian Zietz. Steve Zietz served our country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict. He thoroughly enjoyed the Men’s Prayer Group at First Baptist Church Simpsonville.
In addition to his spouse, Patti Savoie, Mr. Zietz is survived by two sons, Mike Zietz and his wife, Melinda, of Greer, and Chris Zietz of Greenville; three bonus-sons, Brian Savoie and his wife, Katie, of MO, Brandon Savoie and his wife, Rachel, of MI, and Robby Savoie and his wife, Meagan, of IL; six grandchildren, Brodie Zietz, Nolan Savoie, Ryland Savoie, Finley Savoie, Rory Savoie and Quinn Savoie; and two brothers, David Zietz and Matthew Zietz, both of CA.

Last Tuesday night following the Special Called meeting of Greenville County Council, a confrontation flared between factions of the audience that could have become very serious except for quick professional action by three employees of the Sheriff’s Office. The Chairman of County Council called the meeting to approve a resolution calling for the resignation of the sheriff. The confrontation had nothing to do with that subject, although tensions may have been intensified by it.
I arrived at the meeting early and picked a seat on the front row directly behind the speaker’s podium. A woman I knew as a Black Activist was seated behind me. A man who brings his Bible to council meetings and quotes scripture to council members and others took the seat next to me.

Columbia – Ainsley Earhardt, a native of Spartanburg, came through S.C. this weekend on a book signing tour for her latest book, Through Your Eyes: My Child’s Gift to Me. Ms. Earhardt is well-known among conservatives as a news anchor on Fox News Network. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in journalism and then worked in Columbia at WLTX-TV. She later moved to a station in Texas and ultimately joined Fox News in 2007.
As a devout Christian, Ms. Earhardt is open about her faith. She said in a 2016 interview with CBN, “I totally rely on God ... And the moment I stop giving Him the glory, is the moment I will fall, and I will fail, and I know that.”

Gone with the Wind, first published in June 1936, is according to many sources, the most successful and widely read novel ever published in America. The author, Margaret Mitchell of Atlanta, received a Pulitzer Prize in May of 1937 for her sweeping historical novel of the Old South set during the War for Southern Independence and Reconstruction. The novel was also wildly successful internationally. By 1965, it had been published in twenty-five different languages in twenty-nine countries.

Greenville County Sheriff Will Lewis has created a mess. If reports in the Greenville News are true, he has disgraced his office, Greenville County, the Republican Party and his family. In the view of many county citizens, he does not have the moral or ethical character to serve as the top law enforcement officer in the County. Lewis has stated that he will not resign, and the Governor will not remove him from office unless he is charged with a crime. SLED is currently conducting an investigation and members of the County Council are asking for an audit of the Sheriff’s Office.
