Political Fortune of Donald Trump
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Donald Trump is leading the other 16 Republican candidates in the polls because he is talking about the issues that American voters care about. He is connecting with thousands of veterans, thousands of Bible-believing Christians and thousands of common sense conservatives who are faced with the undeniable truth about illegal immigration and other issues.
Trump is also critical of people voters don’t like, and he refuses to apologize for things he says when he knows he is right. Many veterans are aware that Sen. McCain, as chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, could do a lot for veterans during his 30 years in Congress, but has not done so. Veterans who have sacrificed and risked their lives for their country are willing to do it again if necessary, because they took an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, Foreign and Domestic.
Planned Parenthood Body Parts Sales Prompt Strong Upstate Opposition
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Federal and State Lawmakers Pledge New Legislation, No Funding
The Center for Medical Progress released three videos exposing Planned Parenthood’s alleged participation in the illegal trafficking of aborted baby body parts for profit.
The dominant liberal media has ignored information regarding the videos. Pro-abortion liberals are doing everything they can to sweep Planned Parenthood’s most recent scandal under the rug. Fox and the social and Pro-life media only publish facts.
The videos are so revolting and damaging to Planned Parenthood and the entire abortion industry, that the industry is seeking court orders to prevent the public from viewing the taped statements of Planned Parenthood executives.
On Thursday afternoon, Lenna Smith, Executive Director of the Piedmont Women’s Center in Greenville, South Carolina, called a conference of pastors, elected officials and media to discuss an appropriate reaction to the revolting revelations. The turnout was exceptional considering the time of day and short notice given.

Haley a Follower Not a Leader
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley has become the darling of the National Republican Party and the Soros / Moveon.org leftist wing of the Democrat Party for stampeding the state legislature to quickly remove the battle flag from the Soldier’s Memorial on the State House grounds in the presence of a cheering mob.
The alleged reason for rolling up the flag and tucking it away in the state museum’s Relic Room, using a military-style ceremony reminiscent of Nazi Germany, was the murder of 9 Black churchgoers in Charleston by a young man who has been accused of being a racist. The police report and all records pertaining to the case have been sealed by a judge and hidden from the public, leaving many questions unanswered.
What is known is that Governor Haley and a majority of the State Legislature became the useful “tools” of a national movement much larger than their prejudices or political ambitions, and the tragic and brutal murder case in Charleston.
Historical Ignorance II
- By Walter Williams
We call the war of 1861 the Civil War. But is that right? A civil war is a struggle between two or more entities trying to take over the central government. Confederate President Jefferson Davis no more sought to take over Washington, D.C., than George Washington sought to take over London in 1776. Both wars, those of 1776 and 1861, were wars of independence. Such a recognition does not require one to sanction the horrors of slavery. We might ask, How much of the war was about slavery?
Was President Abraham Lincoln really for outlawing slavery? Let's look at his words. In an 1858 letter, Lincoln said, "I have declared a thousand times, and now repeat that, in my opinion neither the General Government, nor any other power outside of the slave states, can constitutionally or rightfully interfere with slaves or slavery where it already exists." In a Springfield, Illinois, speech, he explained: "My declarations upon this subject of Negro slavery may be misrepresented but cannot be misunderstood.

Deb Marks Discussed Common Core History Framework with GOP Women
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Deb Marks, Vice President of Operations, SCPIE, discussed the negative impact of Advance Placement U. S. History Curriculum Framework that will impact some 5,000 South Carolina students each year.
The new Framework reflects a radically revisionist view of American History that emphasizes negative aspects of our nation’s history while omitting or minimizing positive aspects.
The Framework includes little or no discussion of the Founding Fathers, the principles of the Declaration of Independence, the religious influences on our nation’s history, and many other critical topics that have always been part of the APUSH course.
Tara Servatius Stressed Importance of Presidential Election
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Tara Servatius, host of the TARA Show on WORD Radio FM 106.3 from 6 to 10 am on weekdays, discussed the importance of the upcoming presidential election with the Greenville County Republican Women’s Club, Thursday.
She discussed the Supreme Court Decision on Homosexual marriage and said court appointments would be the most important task of the next president with the retirement of conservative judges during the next 4 years.
Tara said the Homosexual marriage decision would impact much more than marriage. It will first surface with lawsuits in schools due to the “dignity rights” and “self-identity” provisions that have been little noticed by the public.
Senator Marco Rubio Draws Younger Crowd in Greenville
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Senator Marco Rubio was 45 minutes late to his meet and greet in Greenville, Monday evening. He was greeted by a patient but enthusiastic crowd of about 300, and a majority of them were under age 40. Several of the younger volunteers came from out of town to participate in the event. One was from as far away as Virginia.
His theme was “what I will do as President.” He avoided controversy such as illegal immigration and no controversial questions were asked from the screened audience submissions.
Attacks on Southern Heritage Continue Nationwide
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Confederate Monument Vandalized
From efforts to change the name of Clemson’s Tillman Hall because Ben Tillman was a segregationist, to banishing the “Rebel” name from the Byrnes High School ball teams, and digging up the bones of Gen. Bedford Forrest and his wife, unrestrained actions are becoming more vindictive and destructive.
Vandals and politicians wishing to revise history by destroying reminders of Southern and Confederate history are redoubling their efforts nationwide. Their efforts are virtually unrestrained by government officials; some of whom are encouraging and participating in the activities.
Parents and students at Byrnes High School in Spartanburg County have decided they are not going to be bullied and are taking a stand. They could be forced to comply by liberal courts that will eventually get involved.
Disgraceful Betrayal of the US Military
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
The most-angry citizens in the United States today are the active duty military and surviving veterans. This is disgraceful and should never be. Our nation is at war, our soldiers are being killed and out government refuses to acknowledge who the enemy is or allow out troops to destroy them or even protect themselves from attack.
Unless the American people wake up and take a history lesson and accept some responsibility, the veterans may have to save the republic because no one else cares. No one cares about the active duty military or vets beyond their immediate families. The republic will not survive under these circumstances.
Historical Ignorance
- By Walter Williams
The victors of war write its history in order to cast themselves in the most favorable light. That explains the considerable historical ignorance about our war of 1861 and panic over the Confederate flag. To create better understanding, we have to start a bit before the 1787 Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.
The 1783 Treaty of Paris ended the war between the colonies and Great Britain. Its first article declared the 13 colonies "to be free, sovereign and independent states." These 13 sovereign nations came together in 1787 as principals and created the federal government as their agent. Principals have always held the right to fire agents. In other words, states held a right to withdraw from the pact -- secede.
Charles (Charlie) Waller
- By Keith Crowe
Left to right: Charles (Charlie) Waller and Hovie Lister.
When I began to write “The Gospel Music Corner” I said that not only would the feature be about groups and artists but also about folks who had made an impact on the gospel music industry.
This week’s feature is without question about one person who has impacted the gospel music industry nationwide, as well as the upstate, as much if not more than any other person. This person is Charles (Charlie) Waller, “The Grand Ole Gospel Man.” Charlie is one of the more colorful people in Southern Gospel Music. He loves traditional Southern Gospel Music and works tirelessly to promote and preserve it Charlie was born in 1948 (a very good year) in Waynesboro, Mississippi.
The twenty-eighth Grand Ole Gospel Reunion will be in Greenville this year. The date for this year’s reunion is August 13th through the 15st. Charlie’s background is well-rounded in the gospel music field. He began as a DJ in New Orleans and while there promoted his first concert in 1971. He formed the Southern Gospel Music Association of Georgia in the late 70’s.
How all Lawmakers Voted on the Flag Issue
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
The Times Examiner has had numerous requests for a complete listing of lawmakers and how they voted on removal of the Confederate battle flag from the Confederate Soldier Memorial. Following is a listing of Senate and House members, those who voted for and against, and those who did not vote.
There is a great deal of residual anger among constituents regarding the vote. It is not so much about the removal of the flag, but the callus and disrespectful manner in which it was done.
Trump Refuses to Back off Criticism of McCain as His Poll Numbers Rise
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
All Republican Candidates Except Ted Cruz pile on Trump for Criticism of McCain “Hero” Status
The Republican National Committee, the dominant media and all Republican Presidential candidates except for Ted Cruz have been criticizing Republican candidate Donald Trump since he began talking about the absolute necessity to close the Southern Border and deal with illegal alien criminals. The Republican Party backed by the Chamber of commerce that wants cheap labor wants to ignore the alien problem until after the election, hoping that they can out-promise Democrats and get Hispanic votes. Trump refuses to be silenced and forced to follow the party line.
Trump’s detractors thought he had made a fatal mistake and began predicting his demise after he deliberately attacked Senator John McCain during a question and answer session with Family Leadership Summit in Ames, Iowa, Saturday afternoon.
Attempts to Banish Symbols of Southern History Fuel Sales at Dixie Republic
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Governor Haley and national retailers are banning flags and other southern products and driving customers to Dixie Republic.
Furman University graduate and former North Greenville University art professor Scott Goldsmith has a family heritage deep in Southern history. He also had a vision. Honoring his ancestors is not a hobby or game for Goldsmith. It is a very serious matter and the center of his being.
A few years ago he began an adventure that no other had knowingly undertaken. He purchased a plot of land on Highway 25 north of Travelers Rest and built a small log store. He stocked and sold only “Southern merchandise,” that ranged from Bluegrass CD’s to wood carvings and a collection of flags that had been flown by Southern States before, during and after the War Between the States.
Soon his business outgrew the log building and he purchased a larger tract of land further up the highway and constructed a larger facility. It seemed he was constantly enlarging and expanding the sales space to make room for more products.
T.P. Wood Store Becomes NGU “Tigerville General Store”
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
The T. P. Wood Store, a historic landmark for a century is now part of North Greenville University and next month is scheduled to reopen as Tigerville General Store.
The ancient country store once housed the Tigerville Post Office, and the Tyger Masonic Lodge. The property was in the Wood Family until it became property of the university recently. Several decades ago it was the scene of a horrific crime when bandits murdered the postmistress in the post office part of the building.
As late as the 1970s and 1980s The Wood store was a gathering place for residents of the community who got together to relive memories of days gone bye. During the winter men of the community gathered around the “pot-belly stove” in the retail area. On cool summer evenings a bench out front was a favorite gathering place. Sometimes there would even be a game of checkers.
If You Tell the Truth About Minorities, You are a Racist
- By James Aldridge - Anderson, SC
After serving as a Marine Sgt. in S-2 in the Korea war, I started back to Southern Illinois University as a freshman in March of l954 as a student of History. I soon learned that a quote, "Man's History reads like a soap opera gone amok" is a truism. I also learned that political correctness is nothing more than a lack of moral courage, and you will be labeled a racist if you tell the truth about minorities.
Reconstruction Continues
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
After 150 years of reeducation since destruction by a 5-year war on military, civilians and private property, followed by 11 years of brutal military occupation and corrupt Carpetbag government, intended to “reconstruct” and change the culture of the South, a segment of the original southern blood-line remains unreconstructed.
These unreconstructed southerners, and others who have educated themselves on the true history of the South, are the segment remaining in the republic who continue to cling to their Bibles, guns, property rights and Constitutional guarantees of personal liberty granted by almighty God. They continue to oppose tyranny in all forms, especially from a federal government the states formed and the Constitution gives very limited power.
Don’t Give Obama More Power Over Schools
- By Phyllis Schlafly
After spending most of June giving President Obama new authority to negotiate trade deals with low-wage countries in Asia, Congressional Republicans are now poised to spend July giving Obama new authority over education in America’s public schools. This is a big disappointment for those of us who worked hard to elect a Republican Congress last November. We expected the new Congress to take power back from the president, not give him more.
For the past fifty years, the engine of federal control over local schools has been Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) of 1965. It was the first in a series of socialist laws that President Lyndon Johnson promised would lead to a “Great Society” after we won his declared “war on poverty.”
Muslim Dinner at White House
- By Dr. Al Snyder
President Barack Obama, who has canceled several Christian events usually celebrated annually at the White House, hosted a special dinner recently there to celebrate the Muslim Ramadan holiday. The supposedly holy month of Ramadan was being celebrated around the world by millions of Muslims who worship Allah.
Obama seems to be quite familiar with the Muslim holidays. The Jewish and Christian holidays he doesn't care much about, but these Muslim ones ... well, he seems to love them. So much that he invited a crowd of Muslims to the White House, gave them his valuable time and attention, plus giving them a formal tax-payer funded dinner.

Eight Members of Greenville County Legislative Delegation Opposed Moving Flag from Soldier's Memorial
Speaking on behalf of the Commander, South Carolina Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Rollis Smith commended eight members of the Greenville County Legislative Delegation for opposing the stampede to remove the Confederate battle flag from the Soldier’s Memorial on the State House grounds.
A former United States Marine and resident of Greenville County, Smith said that as the Lt. Commander, Second Brigade, South Carolina Division, Sons of Confederate Veterans, he was acting on authority of the South Carolina Division Commander, “by unanimous vote of our Executive Council last Saturday.

Poinsett Project Raising Havoc with Local Businesses
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Billy and Debi Bush pleaded with the Greenville County Legislative Delegation Monday night to help them continue to have a successful business on Poinsett Highway.
The current plans for beautification of the Poinsett Highway would construct an 8 foot sidewalk within 2 feet of the entrance of their business. Their customers, many of whom are elderly, would have to walk as much as 100 yards from parking to their florist business.
The project is a partnership between the State and Greenville County and also involves a federal grant. Debi Bush said many meetings have been held, and every time they meet changes are made.
Down the Slippery Slope
- By Sanuel L. Blumenfeld
NOTE FROM EDITOR:
This article was published August 8th, 1994. It demostrates the ability of Dr. Blumenfeld to predict where progressive educators were taking the American people – down the road to a dumb, ignorant electrate.
-------------------------
The story of how American education has become the awful mess it is today is a long one, with many important characters implementing crucial changes in pedagogical theory, ideologies, and worldviews. But if one wanted to reduce the story to a simple summation, one could say that the history of American education is really the history of a war between those who believe in traditional biblically based values, and those who don’t.
Will Taking Down Confederate Flags Promote Social Peace?
- By Mike Scruggs
Of Course Not
Will taking down Confederate flags promote social peace or racial healing? How long would a peace based on suppression of a people’s cherished heritage last? How long would a peace built upon suppressing the memory, valor, and virtue of the revered forebears of a great number of the Southern people last? What could possibly be a surer cause of immense strife, bitterness, and economic and political turmoil? Does anyone outside of a madhouse believe that peace and prosperity can be achieved by discarding the heritage of a numerous people to gain the political favor of another? It is more likely to shatter all hope of peace. Can a society set itself against tolerance and mutual respect and have peace? No fair-minded person can accept such corrupt reasoning.
Ignorance Destroying the Republic
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
The ignorance and poor judgment of some South Carolina Republican lawmakers is embarrassing to all who have a factual knowledge of South Carolina history and an honest assessment of recent events. Their opportunistic, politically motivated behavior will likely be damaging to an already fragmented South Carolina Republican Party in both the short and long term.
In fairness to Governor Haley, I’m sure she is sincere in her belief. Unfortunately she is a product of South Carolina Schools that have been dumbed-down and made politically correct by the federal government. The Governor has no southern heritage. It is not her fault, her heritage is from the Indian cast system, much different from the United States.
Do you find it interesting that the battle flag became a national target immediately after the murders, as if it were a planned response like the national anti-gun uprisings and riots after each incident that can be used to advance a cause?
Senators Vote to Remove Flag From Memorial
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Lawmakers Voted as Leftists Moveon.org Announced Plans to Lobby on the North Steps of the Capitol on Tuesday to Take Down What they Labeled the “Antiquated Symbol of Rebellion and Racism”
The South Carolina Senate voted 37 to 3 on Monday afternoon to remove the Confederate battle flag from the Confederate Soldier Memorial to the Confederate Relic Room. This gesture is virtually meaningless since the flag flown on the Capitol Dome was stored in the Relic Room 15 years ago and this flag is only a replica of that banner.
The three Senators voting in opposition to the proposal were Lee Bright, Danny Verdin and Harvey Peeler.
The vote was on second reading of the bill with a third and final reading set for Tuesday morning. The proposal will then move to the House for debate and a vote expected before weeks end.
