Understanding Progressivism
- Details
- By Bob Dill
“Marxism by Evolution Rather than Revolution”
During the 2008 presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton described herself as a “progressive.” About that time a member of Greenville County Council used the descriptive term. The terms “liberal” and “leftist” and “socialist” have become unpopular with liberals, leftists and socialists. They prefer the term “progressive.” It sounds good to the rank and file American. It implies the individual has a positive outlook and favors progress.
Opportunities, Dangers Ahead for GOP
- Details
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
The Republican Party has the greatest opportunity in a decade to change national, state and local government for the better this year. However, there are perilous obstacles along the way that could derail the opportunity and become disastrous for both the party and the nation. An objective look at recent history is beneficial to understand the current situation and plot a way forward.
A large influx of social and fiscal conservatives became involved in the political process during the 1980s through organizations such as the Moral Majority and Christian Coalition. The “Rockefeller” style, country club, establishment republicans distrusted these energetic newcomers, but eventually found a way to harness their energy and build a powerful political movement that eventually controlled the White House and both houses of Congress.

It further reminds the federal government that it has no authority to demand purchase of healthcare insurance by the citizens of South Carolina.

Beware! It’s Election Year
- Details
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
It’s election year. We have a radical in the White House, revolutionaries in control of the Congress and a large segment of the electorate is confused. That makes for a dangerous mixture for law-abiding citizens who don’t particularly care for excitement of the violent variety.
A large segment of my generation don’t even watch violent movies; we saw enough carnage in Korea and Vietnam to last a lifetime. We sympathize with the troops trying to fight a war when the civilian leaders are not interested in winning and don’t have the courage or the integrity to admit it. We detest a civilian population that is disinterested in national defense unless they have a son or brother whose life is on the line in Iraq, Afghanistan or elsewhere.

Doctor Speaks Out Against Government Takeover of Health Care
- Details
- By Terry M. Thacker
America has the best health care in the world, however, the physician/patient relationship is being politicized and is under attack.
About 100 people showed up to hear Greenville family physician Tom Kendall speak this past Saturday at the semi-annual luncheon of the Americans for Constitutional Government study group. The ACG usually meets every fourth Monday of the month at the Symmes branch of the Greenville County Public Library on Pelham Road. The next meeting will be on the 4th Monday in February at 10:00 a.m.
Dr. Kendall began his remarks by greeting those in attendance “in the name of the Great Physician.” His topic was the current state of health care in America. He said that God was stirring him to be more vocal in the public arena about the trends he sees in health care and how government is adversely impacting these trends. He said that he felt compelled to speak out.
The Importance of Sovereignty
- Details
- By Jeff Haladay

Let us resolve to return sovereignty to the people of South Carolina. It will not be easy. A revolt has taken place within government, a revolt against our Constitution. Government of, for, by the people has been overthrown. To reclaim our rights we will contend with a foe as powerful as the British monarchy our founders confronted. We will need their courage and perseverance in adversity. But we too can be victorious.

Christians who have attempted to grow in the faith and study their Holy Bible know the prophetic signs of the approach of the “last days.” They have been warned of the slick appealing words of false prophets that are wolves in sheep’s clothing and are capable of deceiving “the very elect.” Few “born again” Christians would deny that there are indications that we are living in those last days before the return of our Lord, although no man knows the day or the hour.
Dare Call It Treason

The more I see and hear of what is going on in our nation's Capital the more certain I become that we have filled it with traitors and haters of our Republic. Their major goal is not simply to feather their own nest, as is the goal of many politicians, but to destroy the government of the world's greatest experiment in freedom and liberty. Their target is Biblical Christianity. Whatever their professed religions may be, Christian freedom is anathema to them.
Panic Grips The Left

Panic is an ugly thing … especially when it rises out of a sense of political desperation. Right now, the political Left is coming unhinged at precisely the moment a very real sense of cohesion is beginning to build on the political right. At this writing, polls show a Democrat meltdown in Massachusetts with Republican Scott Brown surging to as much as a nine point lead over Democrat Martha Coakley.

Why The Indianpolis Colts, Sarah Palin, And Usain Bolt Are Setting A Bad Example

Do you remember the saying, “When the going gets tough the tough get going?” Or, how about, “Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.” I think this one is my favorite, “Risk more than others think is safe. Care more than others think is wise. Dream more than others think is practical. Expect more than others think is possible.”
These are all fairly famous quotes on desire and determination to win. The spirit of America is the spirit of winning. Maybe Patton said it best to his troops in the movie that bears his name. “Americans love a winner. Americans will not tolerate a loser. Americans despise cowards. Americans play to win all the time. That’s why Americans have never lost nor will ever lose a war; for the very idea of losing is hateful to an American.”

Should Pregnancy Be a Court Martial Offense in Combat Units?

Faced with reduced strength resulting in reduced effectiveness in mission accomplishment from a large number of troop pregnancies, a commander in Iraq recently threatened any soldier in his command who became pregnant along with the male soldier who participated in the pregnancy with possible Courts Martial.
As could be expected, the feminists, such as Sen. Barbara Boxer, in the United States Senate, pitched a “hissie fit.” They began writing letters to the Secretary of Defense and general officers in the chain of command protesting the general’s threatened actions.
Connecting The Dots
- Details
- By Ray Simmons
When I was a kid we used to play a game called "connect the dots." Most of you have probably played the game...if all the dots are connected properly you end up with a picture that you will recognize, otherwise you just have a bunch of lines drawn in a meaningless pattern. This little game became a catch-phrase to indicate that things were happening in a pattern and if you could properly figure out what was going on you would be able to predict where things were heading. When you did you were said to have "connected the dots."
Taking The Meaning Of Christmas Into 2010

“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the King, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, saying, Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
When I was a little boy I would often go outside on Christmas Eve and look for the Christmas star. I had heard the story of the wise men since I was old enough to remember Christmas. I even played a wise man in the third grade Christmas play at church but I never really understood who they were or why they would have looked for the star in the first place.

Are Americans Safer With Obama?
- Details
- By Bob Dill, Publisher
Are Americans safer now that George Bush is history and President Barack Obama is completing his first year of “change”?
We continue to have two wars. The primary difference between now and then is that Obama has given the enemy in Afghanistan notice that we plan to begin withdrawing troops by a certain date. That is a violation of the unchanging principles of warfare. You never tell an enemy that you are going to stop fighting before you achieve victory. This action will cost lives and make success less likely.
President Obama's Marxist Majority

A reporter asked Majority Leader Harry Reid how he could justify exempting Nebraska from Medicaid payments forever, in exchange for Sen. Ben Nelson's vote. His reply:
There's a hundred senators here. And I don't know if there's a senator that doesn't have something in this bill that was important to them. And if they don't have something in it important to them, then it doesn't speak well of them. That's what this legislation is all about. (Harry Reid, Dec. 21, 2009, Democratic press conference after cloture vote on health-care bill)
